Oakes (6784), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 13, 2008 Very dark brown. Smells like chocolate covered coffee beans. You know what, I’ve got no issue with that. Full body. Sick coffee, chocolate, light vanilla character. Hugely dessert-like. They should turn this into an ice cream. I love a beer that gives me a visceral reaction like this. argo0 (6018), Washington DC, USA May 3, 2008 (12oz bottle, thanks kmweaver) Murky dark brown body with medium tan head. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee, chocolate, some cream, light vanilla. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla. Chococoffee finish. Creamy medium body, some syrup, low carbonation. Great to discover that Tyranena has a barrel-aged beer worthy of the hype (ok, I liked Who’s Your Daddy too (but this one more)). kp (6000), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Jun 7, 2008 Name: Devil Over a Barrel

CaptainCougar (4599), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 11, 2008 12oz Bottle: Pours a mostly opaque black with dark mahogany edges and a stringy-lacing rich tan head. Aroma of roasty smoky dark malts and coffee with a nice bourbon complexity. Body starts with nice fullness and good dark caramel and chocolate sweetness balanced with fresh coffee and bourbon oaky notes. Finishes slightly more bitter, dry and roasty with enjoyable lingering dark chocolate flavors. Very nicely balanced, smooth and dangerously drinkable. I don’t know if this has the body and alcohol to age for a number of years, but I couldn’t imagine it tasting much better than it already does. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA May 21, 2008 12 ounce bottle from Woodman’s in Beloit, WI (May 2008), consumed at cellar temperature from a wholly inappropriate straight-sided Christmas waterglass, but I’m here unexpectedly and what can ya do?....jet black, opaque to sunlight, with a bit of lasting dark cream head.....fairly "dark" chocolaty, lightly bourbon/corn/vanilla hued aroma but predominantly roasty, touch of toffee and espresso....the body is beautifully rich and creamy, just marvellously textured, caramelized chocolate-covered coffee beans marinating in roasty bourbon vanilla syrup, finishing heavily toasty and moderately bitter, lightly burnt....carbonation is low, hops not really noticeable but not really required for this sort of thing, either. Quite appealing.
