COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When the railroad was completed between Madison and Milwaukee in 1882, mucky soils in the glacial swamp near Lake Mills made the tracks most unsteady. A bridge-tender stood guard, 24 hours-a-day, to warn oncoming trains of the danger ahead and caution them to slow their pace. One engineer chose not to heed this warning and the locomotive lost control and tumbled off the bridge into the mud below. The train is said to be forever entombed deep in the muck along the present day Glacial Drumlin trail. We brew Down ‘n Dirty Chocolate Oatmeal Stout thick and black like the glacial muck.

Ar: Sharp chocolate and toasted malt. Ap: Deep brown with ruby highlights on edges - medium light tan head with good retention. T: Cocoa and blueberry up front - dusty chocolate, with some sweetness, mingles with a firm toasted malt character - low bitterness with a slightly mossy edge - finish is dry cocoa. P: Medium-full body and very silky - medium carbonation - finish is dry. O: A rich chocolate porter - oatmeal really adds a lusciousness to the beer - very tasty.

Sample at the brewpub from ck1, thanks bro! Pours a charcoal black with an off-tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is chocolate chip cookies with alcohol. Taste has semi sweet chocolate, oatmeal and a solid roasted malts base. Finishes with some length and bittersweet. I was very tempted to switch my Dirty Old Man, which was also excellent. Tyranena sure does their porters & stouts well!

I liked this beer, it was everything you expect from an oatmeal stout except it wasn’t chewy, it was smooth. It has the flavors you are looking for and a good aftertaste. Good for a cool night after a couple lighter beers to get that dark beer taste and send you to bed full to have a good nights sleep.

Very good brau. Served at a good temperature with a nice sized light tan, foamy head that settled after a bit and good lacing. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is malt, heavy roast, coffee. Flavor is similar to nose with nice balance between malt sweet, malt roast, carbonic tang, and malt, hop, yeast bitter. Body is good, ditto carbonation with only little points, yet compensating chewyness. Finish is like flavor, of average length, and very easy to have more. A tip of the hat to the brewer.

Pours near black with reddish hues and a thin wispy mocha head. Notes of sweet roasted malt, chocolate, raisins, nuts, wine, and wood. Full bodied and silky with soft carbonation.

Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is roasty with hints of sweet chocolate. Falvor is rather subdued with notes of roasted malt, light, sweet chocolate, nuts, molasses, and earthy tones. Medium body with little carbonation. Not bad.

This is a pretty nice chocolate stout. It’s only negative is a slight metallic twinge in the nose. It pours w/ a deep brown black color and a thin head and has a creamy texture cut by brisk carbonation. It’s nice rich coffee-like taste makes up for any flaws it might have.

Pours dark brown, small tan head. Sweet chocolaty start that transitions to a smooth malty lightly bitter finish. Nothing unfortunate here. Nice brew.

Nice roasted aroma, pours an opaque black with a thick tan head. Very good roasted flavor, with a hint of sweet chocolate notes. Very little carbonation noticeable, which pairs up with a slick, full mouthfeel. There’s a nice roasted finish that lingers for a while. This is a solid oatmeal stout, and I would recommend it.
