Dark black pour with tan head that settles to a nice film. Aroma of chocolate, roast, some sweetness. Cookie dough. Flavor is mostly dark chocolate and cookie dough, some roast and typical stouty notes. Finishes dry with a nice full mouthfeel for a stout. Tyranena has got its shit together thats for sure. This is like drinking some kind of delicious cookie dough dessert.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught @ Dexter’s in Madison.
Pours basically black with a small tight head and nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is funny, in a sort of malt extract kind of way... more pleasant notes include chestnut, ash, light coffee... mild chocolate. Pretty ok smelling all around.
The flavor is really nice, rich and roasty with some sweetness up front and plenty of bitterness to back that up. Not overbearing, but very flavorful, pretty well balanced, pretty grate.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ouunce bottle from zrab11, that poured a deep dark black with a little tan head. Aromas of chocolate, coffe, milk/creamer. It tasted like an iced coffee that you would get at starbucks but with out the sugar. It had a great balance of robust smells and not too overpowing flavor. This would be a great morning beer for tailgating.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The chocolate in the description to this beer is VERY deceiving. Its brewed with cocoa nibs, not sweet chocolate! This is not a sweet stout in my mind. This was incredibly bitter, cocoa nibs from what i understand and the cocoa bean roasted before adding sugar to it, and they are incredibly bitter. The beer is very very roasty, with sme slight VERy bitter chocolate notes. An interesting beer but not what i was expecting. Super bitter, and very roasty, and smokey.

12oz bottle 2/22/10 (Binny’s Naperville)-46° in English Pint-Pours a dark brown with some amber tints on a medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. Taste of the same with more chocolate and a smooth overall feeling. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and tasty. Another great brew from Tyranena. Kick butt.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at Brixie’s, Brookfield. This needs to become my last beer of the night. Poured in a shaker, it’s black as can be expected., with creamy-textured foam already lacing the sides. Much more of a stout smell than the bell’s 9,000 I had earlier here. Somewhat astringent with burnt coffee notes. Gotta say the taste is a lot harsher than I’d expected in an oatmeal stout. Maybe the name is the clue to what I should have expected.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle
This beer has sitting on the deck long enough. With a quiet evening ahead of me I opened it. The reward was another solidly made stout from a brewer who doesn’t often fail. It is true this particular release is not the best out there but for an affordable daily drinker (or at least as long as it is in circulation) this is nearly perfect.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated murky brown body bubbled with life beneath the surface. A weak cream colored crown graced the top like dirty wave caps. Bittersweet chocolate, cold oatmeal, and strong black coffee create a breakfast mood. The balance is nearly perfect. This reminds me very much of a Breakfast Stout style beer.
Flavor / Palate - The sweet first impression is like a black truffle dipped in rich chocolate. Next comes ash, smoke, and coffee grounds. Finally the finish of warm oatmeal cookies caps a delightful experience. Sweet and fluid this beer has everything you could ask for. If I was still in Wisconsin I’m sure there would be a four or six pack in the fridge right now.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours really dark, looks almost black. The aroma is balanced with a malty body of chocolate and oats. It reminds me of brownies with a splash of coffee. The flavors follows suit perfectly. Very balanced bittersweet chocolate meets the smoothness of oats. Very light bitterness keeps things balanced. Good take on a solid style.

Black.. medium tan head.
Rich, milk chocolate nose.
Taste is deep, chocolate and oatmeal...nice and thick, creamy. The balance between sweet/bitter is superb. Really enjoyed this one.
