zebracakes (959), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Pours hazy orange amber, thin off white head. Aroma is malt, peat, spices. Flavor is the same with grass and grain that cancels out the peat and allows me to finish this beer. ;)
amish_caravan (175), Winona, Minnesota, USA Jul 19, 2008 pours a semi-transparent amber color with almost no head. scent of wheat, oats, and some roast. taste of wheat, malts, yeast, and some burnt roast with a finish that consists of molases. nice brew. hopscotch (4390), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle... Mostly clear, golden ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Decent retention. The nose offers lots of biscuit and a little toffee. Earthy, fruity hops provide a notation of black tea with a trace of grapefruit. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Well-balanced flavor. Earthy, black tea bitterness offset by biscuit sweetness. Crisp, clean, refreshing finish. Bottle provided by scubarex! Trev (456), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Jul 6, 2008 pours a dark copper colour with a medium off white head.
Aroma is earthy malt, light cut hay hop and fruit tones, at first I thought I noticed some barnyard yeasty tones but they faded to be replaced by the caramel and fruit.
Flavour is earthy malt again, fairly smooth, mild sweetness, some dried fruity tones but they are subdued. Light bitterness in the finish.
CaryTheDude (114), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Jun 24, 2008 Nothing groundbreaking but nothing terrible. Just a smooth, easily drinkable brew for just about any occasion. thejoeshow (73), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jun 19, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a moderate white head that falls back into the beer rather quickly leaving only a thin white ring. Very nice nose on this beer. It is mostly sweet malt aroma mixed in with a nice subtle hop presence. Flavor is grainy and earthy, not as sweet as you would think from the aroma. Mouthfeel is good, but it has a lingering aftertaste at the top of my throat. Not bad at all.
