mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 16, 2008 Bottle. Copper-orange body with a medium-sized creamy white head. The aroma has some orangey resin and toasty malts. Tastes pretty chewy and flowery with some breadiness. Finishes extremely bitter and I think it could of used a bit more balance.
durhambeer (314), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle, thanks to the enormous generosity of CaptainCougar. Dark, hazy copper pour with smallish off-white head and lacing present throughout. Attractive. Given the name, I expected hops. Big floral and citrus hops. A hop explosion. A hop bomb. What I got was well, a malty, caramelly, burnt butterscotch-y, bitter hoppy bomb. The hops were there, but more resiny and harshly bitter than expected. Imagine a beer brewed with all bittering hops and no attempt at a pleasant nose. This just didn’t do it for me. Very bitter, and almost none of the floral or citrus notes I like in an IIPA. More of a double ESB or imperial amber to my taste buds. Glouglouburp (1872), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 6, 2008 In short: A well malted IIPA with harsh bitter coniferous hops. Nice.
How: Bottle 12oz, thanks to the simultaneous generosity of Kingpinipa and mreush, thanks a lot Mike and Matt!!!
The look: Cloudy golden copper body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Nose is coniferous and caramel. Taste is more of the same. Nothing fancy here, lots of caramelized malts, plenty of harsh bitter coniferous hops, some citrusy notes and a slight alcohol bite in the finish. Bottle or ratebeer doesn’t specify the abv but I’d guess this is a 9% IIPA. Surprisingly affordable, thankfully despite the current worldwide hops shortage I Hop Whores would are still less expensive than a S&M Whores. RCL (964), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Jul 2, 2008 Great hoppy/sweet aroma. Flavor is like thick caramel corn with rosemary and citrus zest. radiomgb (1710), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2008 Bright golden-orange in colour, lingering off-white coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is very hoppy, very pine forest like, caramel malt sweetness, some soap. The flavour is hoppy but not as much as the aroma would lend you to believe, juicy, chewy, lots of pine. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes quite bitter, lingering.
This is hoppy but that was expected. At time this showed signs of having some balance, well done.
355ml bottle shared by beerhugger, thanks Steve.

RSRIZZO (945), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 22, 2008 (Bottle courtesy of Headbanger). Aroma is hoppy to a point of almost sour. Color is a rich reddish amber with a thick tight head. Taste is super hoppy and bitter. Starting with a rich medium body it goes down smooth with a bite coming in at the end. Finish comes on bold with rich hop flavor that has a heavy citrus then a tiny bit of malt shows before a big bitter smacks you. After taste is a continuing bitter taste that leaves you with a dry citrus taste. The first word in there description hits it on the head, its overpowering. This is a very tasty brew but its all hops and very little malt.
