The Painted Ladies Annual Fling celebrates the renaissance of downtown Lake Mills. Although named for the restoration of the many Victorian storefronts, some of the more adventurous women-folk added a playful twist and dressed as, well, painted ladies. Inspired by these bold and spicy women, we brewed Painted Ladies, a pumpkin and spice-infused amber ale. This fall, make sure you enjoy a fling with a few Painted Ladies.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of queenholly. Served chilled, not cold. Awesome nose of toasted malts, nutmeg, cinnamon and a fair amount of pumpkin filling. Flavor has a good dose of pumpkin flavor with the above mention spices. The body isn’t has full as some other pumpkin ales I’ve sampled. However, the flavor is real nice. Body and mouthfeel are medium. Sweet pumpkin pie finish. This is solid for the style with some good character.

Aroma is pumpkin bread, spices and cinnamon/heat. The flavor is spices, fruit, a hint of grapes/dark fruit, pumpkin bread and a tangy/mildly tart finish.

Draft to snifter. Looks good; a fairly transparent brownish orange with thin off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes of pumpkin and related spices with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. A decent example of the style.

Pours a clear, dark amber with a medium white head that rapidly fades. Aroma has pumpkin, nutmeg, spices, and cinnamon. Its on the potent side, and has more of a pumpkin smell than many of these. The taste contains much of the aromatic impressions but in varying degrees. There is a lot of cinnamon and spice in here, less nutmeg, while even fewer pumpkin notes. The minor impressions do enough so that you don’t feel that you’re drinking a glass of spice. Medium to light in body, slick in texture, with softer carbonation. Aftertaste is minimal. Overall, this might be one of your better pumpkin beer offerings.
