Not my thing. A deep chocolate color, with a foamy white head. A brown ale with a hint of bourbon. I am sure this is good if you are a fan of the style, but I am not.

Bottle. Deep red-brown, low off white head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, light bourbon notes. Flavours of chocolate malt, vanilla (Maltesers come to mind), light rounded bourbon notes. Medium bodied but balanced, on the sweeter end of the spectrum. Decent.

Bottle brought back from Wisconsin by my lovely wife. A: Solid mahogany with a firm fluffy off-white head. Lacing. N: Pecan, toffee, hint of bourbon, vanilla, and coconut. Dominated by sweet biscuit. Cocoa, roasted coffee beans, and hints of char. T: Nose is quite nice. Palate picks up light malt and light bitterness. Disappointing here. M: Quite watery. Light body. O: Not sure what the disconnect is between body and nose, but it’s not altogether enjoyable to drink from the bottle.

12 oz bottle shared by huhzubendah, thanks Matt! Pours a clear dark brown with light easily passing as ruby hues on the glass. White bubbles line the rim, head is nearly nonexistent. Aroma is caramel malt, light vanilla and toasted walnut. Flavor is sweet: classic brown ale, bourbon caramel, and sweet malts. Thin bodied, medium carbonation. Only 5.7%? This tastes like at least a 7.5%.

The beer is a beautiful mahogany hue with tinged of russet and ruby. Small beige head. Aromas include oak, bourbon, wet wood, vanilla. Light sweetness with a gentle bourbon character and vanilla. Perhaps toasted almond cookies with a splash of chocolate and brown sugar. Thin body with fairly low carbonation. Lots of flavor packed into a <6% abv brew. Tasty.

Aroma: Chocolate and almonds mingle with light toasted coconut, some vanilla. Appearance: Dark garnet brown with a foamy tan head that settles into a still skin. Flavor: Chocolate and nuts are more present up front with an undercurrent of the coconut, vanilla bourbon character, which grows a bit more toward the finish. Palate: Light-medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Quite liked this; the mixing of non-barrel and bourbon barrel allowed for the entire character of the beer to shine along with the barrel treatment.

Deep brown with reddish hints. Small tan head. Caramel, vanilla, some earthy undertones. Some bitter dark chocolate taste, finish is much sweeter. Medium-heavy body, alcohol is fairly upfront. Some acidity. Reasonably long finish, although the finish becomes slightly watery. Overall, quite good. Reasonably well balanced.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2014 Little to no aroma. TAste is a nice barrel aged beer. Nice head did cause a ticking sensation. Barrel flavor but a bit thin. Enjoyable beer for sure.
