Draft at the brewpub. Pretty even keeled, straight forward medium dark ale, the bourbon adding a little bit of oomph, but without being overpowering. Big malt backbone. (#5104, 7/2/2013)

Bottled in March, pours a nice clear brown with a slight haze. Nice finger head of an off white foam that dissipates into a ring that lasts. The aroma is a bit chocolate forward. Nice sweetness as well with the caramel malt and a slight toasted coconut and bourbon note. Nice carbonation at the front of the tongue that opens into chocolate and caramel malt. Slight hop bitterness but nothing distinguishable. Rolls into more chocolate with a nice mellow bourbon and toasted coconut. Excellent. This in an amazing brown ale. Highly recommend, Fall Winter Spring Summer. The Beer Is Awesome.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2013 Color is very dark hazelnut though not opaque. Some aroma of malt hints at moderate sweetness on the palate. Bourbon contributes subtly to flavor. Modest balance from hops and alcohol.

Bottle. Very dark amber pour with off white head. Smells of toasted malts, chocolate and slight bourbon. Very good flavor. I like bourbon flavor but I like that it doesn't over power this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a frothy tan head. Strong caramel and vanilla aromas, richly enhanced by the bourbon. Very creamy palate, thicker body than expected. Finishes sweet and ashy with a hint of bitterness. Very good beer for any occasion.

Had on tap at Parkside 23 in Brookfield, WI. Pours a dark brown with a hefty two finger white head. Nice lacing. Flavors of mocha, vanilla, malt and coffee. Excellent balance in this brown ale. The barrel aging provides a very nice flavor but not boozy in any way. I really like this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Really good! Great aroma of chocolate and caramel. Pours a beautiful rich dark brown. Has a sweet, creamy, chocolaty, caramel, with a rich malt taste. It finishes with a rich wooden, nutty flavor that is clear and delicious. Really a nice beer.
