This one poured a muddy lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was of caramel, toast, light bourbon but not much else. Flavor was similar, malty and sweet caramel with hardly any barrel character.

Pour (Happy Gnome Beer Dinner) brown with a white head, bourbon taste with notes of chocolate, caramel, and vanilla, decent and worth a try.

Why didn't they put the whole batch in bourbon barrels? Haha not enough bourbon for me but the notes were nice. Definitely picked up vanila and some walnut. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle from the Secret Santa trade. It pours a very dark orange/brown color with a nice orangy head. The aroma is subdued with nice toasted malt, lots of nuts and mild cocoa. The flavor is much more intense with toasted/nutty malts and medium level spicy, earthy hop flavor and bitterness. Only a slight hint of bourbon in the finish, which is very nice. The nuttiness, earthy hop and mild bourbon flavor make this a really nice brown.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 12 oz bottle poured into a shaker. A mostly woody, with a little toffee, aroma come off the initial pouring accompanied by a moderate old wet sponge smell. Once it settles down a bit, the aroma is a mostly sweet, candy malt with some roasted nuts and a mild berry. The dark caramel brown is crystal clear with a fluffy egg-shell colored head; a decent amount of which sticks around a leaves a moderate amount of a thin lace layer. A medium level of sweetness combines with a medium light bitterness on the tongue; very mild overall. The light, oily texture has a medium, mostly caramel flavored body with some light notes of chocolate and caramel - maybe even a hint of coffee in there. The spicy bourbon shows up a bit more at the finish with a cooked brown sugar and an ever-so-faint touch of alcohol warmth. Near the end of the drink, some nuts, toasted bread, and even some dark berry flavors start to show up at the finish. The aftertaste sticks around for a moderate amount of time and is peanut butter and pine. As a session beer, this one is quite complex

Rated on 5-20-2010 - This bottled beer forms a small fizzy ivory head that mostly diminishes, transparent orange brown body, visible carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malty, nutty, hops, and bourbon. The taste is lightly bitter, malty, nutty, hops, and bourbon. The palate is tingly and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is very quaffable and the bourbon is not overly aggressive. This beer is worth trying, and is a beer I recommend and would drink again. More please!

Clear deep chestnut pour with a thin off white head ... aroma of roasted chocolatey malts and not much else .... taste is of light oak, vanilla, chocolate and roasted malts with the slightest hint of bourbon and biscuity malts ... dry light roasted finish .... simple and good
