Pours a pale, clear orange with a finger of lingering white head. Smell is mandarin oranges, bready malt, and citrusy hops. Tastes like somebody put a clementine orange into my beer, grassy hops, decent pale malt backbone. Not particularly complex but fairly refreshing.

I catch mostly orange peel in the aroma, though there are some hops just behind that. The head is off white and sticks to the glass for quite awhile. The body is a pleasant golden amber. The taste surprised me as I expected to encounter more of that orange flavor. It did not happen, but something else did. The orange peel balances the bitterness in the hops, leaving a clean taste, though somewhat richer than the brews appearance. Hop heads will like this very much, though the ones that like a strong bitterness in the hops will be disappointed. The palate is treated to a thick oily quality, leaving an aftertaste of orange peel that has the potential to become annoying in a session. Overall, it is well done and fans of IPAs should give it a try.

Bottle with Keith. Dated April, so 3 months old...pours copper with small clearish white head, not much lace. Notes of old hops, copper, vanilla, cheese, rye and lots of sweet malt. This might have been good a couple months ago...might have.

Pours orange with a thin off-white head. Citrusy aroma with orange and grapefruit notes. Hoppy flavor with some dankness. The initial flavor is oranges then the grapefruit comes in at the finish. Crisp clean mouthfeel with moderate to high carbonation. The finish is fairly dry with just a slight residual hoppiness lingering on the back of the tongue.

Bottle. Pours orange with some head. Decent hops flavor blended with oranges, very refreshing ipa.

Draft at the brewpub. Id say its a half shade darker than their Bitter Woman IPA. Side by side, Id say this also a bit heavier in mouthfeel, but has about the same citric acidity, pleasant enough drink ability. (#5102, 7/2/2013)

Pours a copper orange with lasting white head and great lacing. Aroma is citrus hops with orange zest as expected. Not out-of-this-world, but it works well. Taste is even better. It starts out sweet up front with a full malt flavor, but only for a few seconds. Just before it gets too cloying, the fruity citrusy hops cut through with some great bitterness. Some dankness comes through to keep things from being too resiny, but the bitterness remains there through the dry finish. Really balanced. Every time I worried it would go south, it redeemed itself with control and balance. Flavorful and full. Much different than my other high-rated IPAs, but this is deserving of its high scores.

Bottle @ Gregs house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a clear dark orange appearance with a thin khaki head. A bit goopy orange citrusy, somewhat sweet, a bit herbal aroma. Somewhat syrupy, a bit goopy, orange fruity, fairly malty flavor. Bleh.

12oz bottle to shaker. Deep orange color. Nice fluffy head. A nice malty, balanced IPA with an orange twist.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2013 There is a bit of suspended disbelief in my rating and review. I dont like to see stuff added to beer, but if it works, Im not going to complain. The orange peel works, maybe even really works. This is one of those beers that really benefits from palate wrecking. The second half really starts to come into its own. I might like a second or third to get the full effect. Hop bitterness works like a Negroni in setting the stage. The orange becomes complex and balanced. Malt plays a significant supporting role.
