7-11-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to pepsican
Clear red amber with a nice watery white head and good lacing. Smell is oranges and hoppy sweet goodness. Flavor is nice, balanced and hoppy, sweet and bitter. Medium carbonation. Really drinkable and enjoyable!

Bonused bottle from my want list from pepsican. Huge thanks for this one!
Pours a clear amber with a nice puffy light beige head. Smell is sweet candied orange peels and a pleasant citrusy hop character. Somewhat unique and very pleasant. Taste is fruity, moderately bittered and finishes with a balance of sweet orange flavor, melon, and light lingering bitterness. Definitely very fruity and citrusy. Light to medium bodied with normal carbonation. A very solid IPA overall.

Bottle from iowaherkeye. Thanks dude! Pours a nice copper color with a lasting thin head. The aroma is nice and fruity containing tart grapefruit and orange as well as some sweetness fromt the malts. Initial hoppy burst is also fruity with lots of grapefruit, followed by funky catbox, some orange peel, and a little sweet doughy malt. Very fruity with a lingering hoppy bite that had a dominant citrus quality. A finely crafted IPA.

Clean, copper appearance clear as water with a healthy whitecap. Wet pine, green spiciness and cotton candy aroma; sticky in bitterness and in sweetness; hints of peach, wet grass, dough, and brown sugar. Crystal malts loiter with a needless, cumbersome weight of sweetness. The orange peel does well to set that to rest in the flavor, and quite quickly; the citrus touch is thick and bright, and enough to more or less bury the cloying, slick quality of the malts. Chunky sweetness layers flavors of white chocolate, pistachio, and cookie dough, but these are washed away in bitter resins and wooden herbs. growing somewhat little abrasive in the middle with celery salt and burnt grass. Medium bodied, and somewhat sharp from citric qualities and moderately high carbonation; finishes with a burst of orange peel and a sticky smack of citrusy sugars. It’s fine, and it isn’t much besides that.

Bottle. Pours an orangish amber color with a medium white head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Taste of hops dominate with a bitterness that seems enhanced from the orange peel. Flavor is hoopy and tart from the citrus. Has a sticky piney bitter finish. Nice lacing all the way down the glass.

Bottle from iowaherkeye. Thanks Joey! Pours a bright copper with a small fizzy, white head. Aroma is fruity (definite citrus/orange) with some piney hop notes and a lot of caramel malt. Flavor is more piney hops, a lot of caramel malt, and less orange than I expected after reading some of the other reviews. This was a bit of a letdown.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2009 Bottle: Pours to a copper penny colored body with a thin fizzy white head. Lots of visible carbonation. The aroma is vibrant with strong oranges and very malty pale malts and specialty malts. Pine and grapefruit. The flavor is more of an A.P.A. Very malty base. Bitter oily orange peel and subtle hops. Needs more balance. The palate is slick with a long bitterness. One of the first beers from Tyranena that could use more balanced. :( 8, 3, 6, 3, 13 = 3.3

Tap: Awesome citrus that was much better than the bottle.

12oz bottle. Fairly juicy fruit pulp initially on the nose. Grapefruit and tangerine. Heavy at first but settles into more distinct and balanced aromas of cut wet grass, tree bark and caramel malt. Not without hints of spice: coriander perhaps? Pours a gorgeous, radiant dark orange with rich copper highlights. A fairly decent sized frothy white head eventually settles to a thin bright white film. Rightly bitter on the tongue. Perhaps lacking nuance. Bitter orange peel slams it’s way through. Lacking some of the juicy fruit meat present on the nose. A touch of dried leather. Slightly earthy (more tree bark). Mint and cilantro. Quite bitter and lacking refinement. Firm on the tongue with an expectedly bitter lengthy finish. Pleasant and quenching but altogether unspectacular.

Pours a beautiful amber/copper color with nice white head.Wonderful aromas of Citrus, orange peel, pine, and caramel malts. and hops. I thought that the orange peel may make it too citrusy, but to the contrary! It has a perfectly balanced orange flavor that beautifully blends in with the piney hop flavor!Great caramel malt backing with a great bitter hop finish! Great job Rob!

Thanks for picking this up for me bro! Pours a clear, rich, amber color with thin white whispy head. Aroma is a citrus, pine, and light pineapple. In a way, the aroma is a dumbed down version of Hopslam, which is a damn good thing in my book. Taste is excellent. I see some comments about it being a mess, but the orange peel was used to replace the citrus profile created by the hops due to the hop shortage. So while the orange is part of the brew, and essentially the whole premise of the beer, it was also done to be a creative idea for the supplementation of a lack of hops. Anyway, it tastes like a rock solid IPA. The pine and citrus play very well across the tongue. The only minor downfall, is the finish is a part tart. It seems that the orange peel (pith as well?) imparts a bit of tartness in the finish. However, it’s just a minor distraction in a otherwise terrific brew. You cannot make a mistake with the Brewer’s Gone Wild series. Rob continues to make rock solid beer!!!
