Scurvy India Pale Ale (IPA) India Pale Ale Brewed With Orange Peel. An ample ale, exploding with luscious, fruity hops and citrusy blast of orange zest. Ready to walk the plank, Matey

Pours a copper orange with lasting white head and great lacing. Aroma is citrus hops with orange zest as expected. Not out-of-this-world, but it works well. Taste is even better. It starts out sweet up front with a full malt flavor, but only for a few seconds. Just before it gets too cloying, the fruity citrusy hops cut through with some great bitterness. Some dankness comes through to keep things from being too resiny, but the bitterness remains there through the dry finish. Really balanced. Every time I worried it would go south, it redeemed itself with control and balance. Flavorful and full. Much different than my other high-rated IPAs, but this is deserving of itís high scores.

Bottle @ Gregís house picked up in the Midwest. Pours a clear dark orange appearance with a thin khaki head. A bit goopy orange citrusy, somewhat sweet, a bit herbal aroma. Somewhat syrupy, a bit goopy, orange fruity, fairly malty flavor. Bleh.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2013 There is a bit of suspended disbelief in my rating and review. I donít like to see stuff added to beer, but if it works, Iím not going to complain. The orange peel works, maybe even really works. This is one of those beers that really benefits from palate wrecking. The second half really starts to come into its own. I might like a second or third to get the full effect. Hop bitterness works like a Negroni in setting the stage. The orange becomes complex and balanced. Malt plays a significant supporting role.

Bottle. Pours golden with nice white head. Smell is orange peel and caramel malts. Taste follows suit but it was slightly more faded and with more pine flavor. Pretty good.

The problem with having someone pick you up a Wisconsin beer in Indiana and then transport it back to Georgia is that you can never be certain as to its freshness. I suspect the beer I got was a tad old, as the hop character was totally lacking. Pours a clear light amber with a barely-off-white head. Scent is all grain with slight hint of booze. The beer has a very nondescript and underwhelming bitter flavor. Well carbonated with an astringent finish. Pretty disappointed, especially given the relatively high rating this beer received. Nice orange citrus nose. Like the twist of the orange and pine flavors compared to other ipas . Has decent malt balance and finish is long and dry. Good summer ipa

Tap. Dark orange. Good lacing. White head. Citrus aroma. Good balance of citrus sweetness and pine hoppiness, though finish could be better. Double ipa type of taste, pretty nice.

Bottle. Orange amber with frothy white head. Aroma is citrus, cloves, orange peel, apricot, bread dough. Taste is sweet dough, sour orange, vanilla, tangy dried fruit, some resin bitterness, mouth feel dries out.
