COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed our 2009 version of our Scotch Ale and will be tapping on ObamaNight (Jan 20, 08) as InaugurAle. We have slightly altered the recipe from last year, marginally increasing the amount of peated malt and using the traditional ingredient of roasted barley (just a wee bit)... we removed a dark caramel malt and replaced with a special malt that should also contribute well to the overall character. As always, we use plenty of Scotland’s finest Golden Promise as well as our Wisconsin base malt.

Bottle from Breeze Thru. Pours a very unclear orangey brown with fine under-surface bubbles and a fine small ring of a head around the edges. I mean almost no head - it is amazing the many small bubbles under the surface do not get to the surface. Also amazing is that there is some nice lacing as you get down in the glass. Aroma has subtly sweet caramel, dark fruit and earthy straw. Taste is of sweet earthy fruits, heavy malts and some alcohol. Quite thick. Finishes somewhat short and somewhat sweet. Not a big fan. Also not sure if I had an older bottle?

Brownish orange with a thin tan head, looks thick and syrupy. Smells like sweet caramel, molasses and slight alcohol (less so than somd other scotch ales though). Taste is mostly sweet. Heavy bodied. I liked this as compared to other scotch ales, but scotch ales are not one of my favorite styles.

Bottle thanks to mar. Pours with a very small tan head, low carbonation over a copper hued body. Aromas are sweet, vanillia, molasses, brown sugar, clean, malty. Flavors are of cereal grainy, malty, caramel, light melanoidin, low smoke. Clean yeast wise. Low carbonation. Fuller body with a bit of a sweet finish.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were very long lasting and left behind a typically carbonated transparent dark golden brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was musty. The mildly vinous mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish caramel hop aftertaste. The creamy flavor contained notes of Vienna malt mild nut root beer chocolate caramel and hops. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

bottle - Pours lightly hazy amber with a one finger light tan head. It smells of caramel and toffee malt. There’s a rich, sweet flavor of caramel malt with gentle roast character and a medium body. Enjoyable brew.

Pours caramel-amber, orange on the edges, with a thin beige head. Nose is caramel-apple and smoky peaty malt. Taste is a full round sweet with a fair balancing bitter. Palate is heavier, very low carb, and a long smoky finish. Decent strength to my surprise, nice and mellow, smooth. Pretty good.

Thanks phishpond. A deep copper colored brew with a a wispy thin yellowish khaki head. A nose of hay and toffee. There is also some dusty old library book. This is a sticky thick bodied brew with lots of sweetness. There is also some toffee and a hint of pears. There was also a note of nutmeg. This is a smooth drinker even with the big body. A nicely made beer.

Bottle. Smoky peat, and earthy roasted barley malt aroma. Hazy deep amber with an off-white ring. Sweet roasted malt, earthy/smoky peat, and light fruit flavor. Medium body. Very enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle
This is an excellent scotch ale; I am not sure why it has taken so long for me to rate except that I keep missing it being in season. If you are a fan of Wisconsin’s craft breweries or good beer in general do yourself a service - get a four/six pack of Tyranena today.

Aroma / Appearance - Bronze with a carbonated base the dense head makes it look like this was shipped with a piece of packing foam to keep it from harm. Toasted bread crumbs, caramel, and traces of sourdough warm the senses. The dusty feel contains mostly malts although hops are evident as well.

Flavor / Palate - Caramel, apple cider, crumbs of Twix frozen overnight, and a sweet finish tickle the palate. The finish sticks around for a while to convince further sips. Eventually it fades a few minutes after the final sip. This is a fine beer that is so well balanced two or three might sneak up on you.

Bottle. Pours a deep amber to medium caramel. Slight white head. Aroma is interesting nutty overly ripe citrus with vanilla toffe. Taste is a sweet nuttiness and toffe to green coffee notes. Very good with a smooth finish. A very nice Scotch Ale!!
