undsioux7 (478), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Jan 25, 2008 Updated: May 25, 2008 Pours amber with a small white head. Aroma is very bready which was a suprise for an APA. Taste is biterness up front dry finish. Not much inbetween. Not bad a second tasting around.
ratman197 (2260), Arvada, Colorado, USA Aug 22, 2008 Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of bstraw, graininess, carmel, earthiness and a hint of citrus. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth lightly bitter finish. Baumgartner (66), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle poured to glass. Pours a redish amber with a large rocky head. Smells of yeast, sour malts and hops like other "pales" SWEATY. Sweet inital flavor with a long mellow hops follow. Watery mouth feel and sour ont the sides of the tounge. fiver29 (303), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2008 Bottled almost a year ago. Pours a dark golden color with a off white head. Has a slight hop aroma, but mainly is malt sweetness. Has a medium body. Taste is mostly malty sweetness. What a let down. thejoeshow (106), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 13, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a light amber/golden color with a viscous white head that produces wonderful lacing all the way down the glass. Nose is a good hop forward aroma with notes of pine and citrus all over the place. Not too in your face and just right for an APA. Flavor is nice and mellow with a good amount of bitterness in there to make the hops the focal point of the beer. Very smooth and easy to drink. This is a good solid APA that shouldn’t be messed with. Brigadier (885), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2008 Great Taste of the Midwest 2008
This is your typical local pale ale. I gave it a shot on the way out the gate only because I have somehow never had it. Figuring that I could save myself a $1.50 bottle I gave it a shot. Ambivalent I could actually go either way on whether to get more. This is your average lawn mower beer just witha regional twist. If you have a favorite in your area drink that instead.
Aroma / Appearance - Lemon zest with a hoppy backbone gives this some presence but nothing aggressive. The transparent golden body looks golden as one would expect. Just hold up whatever your local brewpub brews and you’ll get the idea.
Flavor / Palate - The bitter start of hops soon fades in lemon and then nothing. Very sessionable and easy on the palate this is a standard local pale ale. I would like to have had something a bit thicker but beggars can’t be choosers.
