Courtesy of Capt Cougar. Poured an opague black body with a small tan head. Aroma is very fresh coffee with some chocolate and mild cookie dough present. Flavors are also uber fresh coffee with some nice, not overly bitter hops in the finish.

Jul 14, 2008 bottle: pours black with a thin espresso brown head. aroma is spent coffee grinds, cocoa powder, small earthy grass and slight oat aroma. flavour is iced coffee, roasted grain, bitter chocoalte bar, mouthfeel is very smooth and a little of the oat comes out well, this beer is very easy to drink.

Jul 11, 2008 Hell yeah. HELL YEAH. Oily pour, scent of the greatest coffee or espresso I’ve ever had, with some vanilla. Amazing how it captures the smell of fresh ground coffee like that. Super smooth body. Some sourness and bitterness (orange rind?) in finish. Excellent.

Jul 7, 2008 I was a tad let down with this one. I think my hopes just got too high. Pours great, black with a big ol’ tan head. Lots of lacing. Slightly oily, if watery, on the palate. Aroma is cold coffee (not necessarily bad) Flavor is a nice mix between coffee and barley with notes of chocolate. Nice and silky. A little weak though, especially for a 99 percentile beer. Just nothing amazing, especially when compared to its big brother "Devil Over a Barrel"

Jun 28, 2008 Bottled sample via oakbluff. Near black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, and a bit of red wine. Flavors are of cold coffee, vanilla, oatmeal, and hints of caramel and black pepper. Starts with a heavy-silky body, but dries out nicely. Well done.

Jun 22, 2008 The color was very black. The head was creamy and dark tan. The aroma was coffee, roasty, chocolate, and paper. The flavor was coffee, sweet, roasty, hoppy, bitter/waxy, and alcohol. The palate was full-bodied. The finish was warm and waxy.
