mcbackus (662), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Jul 14, 2008 bottle: pours black with a thin espresso brown head. aroma is spent coffee grinds, cocoa powder, small earthy grass and slight oat aroma. flavour is iced coffee, roasted grain, bitter chocoalte bar, mouthfeel is very smooth and a little of the oat comes out well, this beer is very easy to drink.
harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 20, 2008 Bottle. Big thanks to Mes_and_Sim for this one. Very deep brown. Lots of camp coffee, powdery strong coffee and lots of oatmeal. Quite oily in mouth. Lots more coffee. Not exactly subtle, just a temendous aroma. Rest is pretty good, but the coffee just is too dominant. Gurst (327), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Aug 25, 2008 Coffee ground richness, with just a little mocha. Thick, frothy body. Drinkable, but alcohol pounds you at the end. Mes_and_Sim (4465), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 23, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle thanks to Chad. Thick, balck and opaque with an attractive tan head. The aroma is exactly what you would expect. As Ian said very breakfasty. Full of black coffee and chewy oatmeal. Some lovely wooden notes underneath too. The oats make it so rich and thick. The flavour is almost identical. Slight hints of alcohol showing and the coffee and oatmeal really go hand in hand with each other. Slight barrelly notes and some huge chalky bitter chocolate. When it all comes together it gives it a bourbon character which I’m sure becomes pretty fierce in the Over A Barrel version. The finish is a big assault of everything all at one settling on some luscious and lengthy American chocolate. Strange mouthfeel. It seems a little thin at first but somehow becomes lavishly thick and creamy then ends really clean. Quite impressive. Lots to like in this one. Lovely stuff. SpringsLicker (1823), Tennessee, USA Aug 19, 2008 Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Pours a fleeting tan head over a dark brown body.

Rich and smooth. Very nice. esjaygee (808), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Aug 17, 2008 Dark brown with a medium brown head. Aroma of coffee, oatmeal, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of coffee, roasted malt and fruit. Creamy body leads way to a semi-dry fruity-coffee finish. Very drinkable.
