shintriad (663), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 11, 2008 Hell yeah. HELL YEAH. Oily pour, scent of the greatest coffee or espresso I’ve ever had, with some vanilla. Amazing how it captures the smell of fresh ground coffee like that. Super smooth body. Some sourness and bitterness (orange rind?) in finish. Excellent.
SpringsLicker (1812), Tennessee, USA Aug 19, 2008 Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Pours a fleeting tan head over a dark brown body.
Coffee, chocolate, alcohol aroma.
Sweet coffee and chocolate.
Rich and smooth. Very nice. esjaygee (721), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Aug 17, 2008 Dark brown with a medium brown head. Aroma of coffee, oatmeal, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of coffee, roasted malt and fruit. Creamy body leads way to a semi-dry fruity-coffee finish. Very drinkable. Glouglouburp (1915), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 10, 2008 In short: A very good but very basic fruity porter. Nothing new but a very good beer
How: Bottle 12oz from Ughsmash. Thanks a lot Jason. Drank when about 6 months old.
The look: Black body topped by a small but long lasting tan head leaving persistent lacings
In long: Nose has usual roastiness as well well as some dark fruit. Nice mouthfeel, dry and roasted yet silky. Taste is ok, burnt malts, a little roasted coffee beans, molasses and dark fruits. Hopping lacks bite, the beer feels unbalanced. This quite a few step down from tyranena other porter “Devil Over A Barrel”. Still, this is quite a good beer. nataS rof god ruoy lliK. CharlesDarwin (1376), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 3, 2008 12oz Bottle. Smells like bad church coffee, chocolate liquor and brandy. A bit of fruitcake, sweetness and Christmas. Banana bread. Pours a reddish fringed deep mahogany and no head. Harsh, crashing acidic coffee through a thinner porter and cheap bourbon. Thin and washed out flavor. No chewiness or depth. Coffee overbears. Some alcoholic complexity. Flavor doesn’t linger. Palate is mediocre. Not well integrated flavor. Thanks Sean! Rogueone (365), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Jul 28, 2008 Sample at the Most Honorable SuperHappyFun Stout Tasting: YUM! This is a great beer for people who like coffee beers! Rich espresso, bitter chocolate, vanilla in the nose. Flavor is very rich coffee notes, vanilla, and a sweet, then dry finish!
