DSG (850), Yuvalim, Israel Aug 9, 2008 (6/23/08) Draught at the brewpub in Prague. As "Ale 14°" Deep amber color with a medium stable beige head. Aroma of caramel, honey, malt and strange spiciness. Sweet malty flavor with some weird fruitiness and sweet spices. Medium-bodied. Not very pleasant. oh6gdx (5903), Vaasa, Finland Jul 2, 2008 Draught@brewpub (at 14°). Amber colour, small creamy white head. Aroma is juniper, yeast, diacetyl and some berries. Flavour is quite much the same, diacetyl mixed with berries and wood. A rather special and weird brew. Glouglouburp (1943), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 14, 2008 In short: A boring fruity ale.
How: Tap at brewpub (Pivovar u Bulovky Richter, Prague)
The look: Cloudy amber body with a medium beige head
In long: Berries, blackberries with some light figs notes. An overall impression of cooked fruits from a baked pie. I didn’t like the finish at all which had a “dirty” feel to it. Czech brewers really are the masters of Lagers but when give them an Ale yeast and they seem as lost as a hairdresser with a auto-mechanic toolbox.
(Rating #1510) MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 24, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Fruity caramel and earthy yeast swirl and twirl in a puzzling salsa performance which remains polite and entertaining. A curious beer for the country, but a decent pint is always welcome, isn’t it?
Further Personal Perceptions:
-This version was brewed at 15°.
-A sheet of foam tops the hazy copper.
-That orangey fruitiness has tart edges, but they are well positioned.
-Carbonation is smooth but very active.
-This tastes like an English Bitter with stronger effervescence.
On tap at the brewpub.
