Rich shade of almost black with a frothy tan head; really roasty aroma with heaps of coffee and cocoa; light-bodied and very.approachable but with a surprising degree of fresh roasted grain and chocolate crackles. A delicious black lager
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 gnoff (6317) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - JUN 13, 2011
Draught at Prague Beer Museum on June 5, 2011 As "Black Miner Starkladenske 13 Tmavy Lezak" Almost black color, some brown and red hints, light brown head. Acidic, some sweetness, roasted taste. Acidic and roasted aftertaste. Mainly acidic scent. Low/thin mouthfeel, low bitterness. Fairly sure the beer served is not as it should, I complained but got to hear back from the staff at this pub that this is what it was supposed to taste like, so OK, I’ll enter the rating and hope to be able to rerate at another pub sometime in the future.

Draught: Literally black and presumably hazy, smaller fluffy tanned head; caramel, roasted malt and a whiff of coffee in the nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, soft, relatively light bodied; lingering roasty and coffeeish finish with a balancing malty bitterness in the very end. Well made, untypical Dunkel......

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Quack-Duck (6811) - Down South, GERMANY - JUN 5, 2010
PETka, traded with swooper - Danke! Deep bronw, almost black colour, small beige head. Aroma of coca powder and roasted malts. Dry and smooth on the palate, with a shy malty base, not very sweet though with intensive flavours of roasted malts, caramel and cocoa powder. The balance between sweetness and dry bitterness is perfect. A delicious Dunkel with characteristics of a good Schwarzbier.
