Tap at brewpub. Deep amber pour with finger or more of white head. Strong vinous aroma of fruit and sugar. Sweet to taste with lots of caramel, and earthy tones to finish. Full mouth with warming bitter finish. Very good.

Tap @ U Medvídků in Prague. The beer pours to a deep amber body with a beige head, and very nice spotty lacing. The aroma was very barley wine like, which was surprising given the style. Lots of sweet caramel and notes of sherry and nougat. The flavor was sweet and caramelized. Pretty much a barley wine. Lots of seemingly oxidized sherry. The palate was robust and hid the 12+% pretty well.

Pretty solid effort. The flip top pretty much exploded off when I lifted the lock; sprayed me with a mist of caramel smelling beer. Better than my cologne. Smell that n even I’d go out with me; something I don’t ordinarily do. Poured with a fine, thick, small to medium sized light tan head that faded fairly quickly, leaving kind of a scummy layer and a little lace. Color is a hazy/cloudy deep medium amber. Aroma is hugely caramel, with toffee, malt, fruit, slightly floral. Flavor’s like aroma plus oranges, nutmeats, and a bit of tartness from somewhere. Really works out over all. Body is as expected: full, round, luscious, and nicely cut with the good carbonation. Finish is like flavor and of medium length. Much nicer in bottles than on draft at the pub.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2012 2009 bottle. Nose of cinnamon, honey, sweet orange, some acid and pine. Lovely orange-amber color with lace. Sweet-and-sour flavor, orange, cinnamon, wood, cherry, pears, ume plums. Weird and shocking complexity but lovely. Thick, oily body. One-of-a-kind, and much better than the overly sour, lessintegrated one I had on tap.

Draught at the brewpub, 2010: 6/4/7/5/14=3.6. Fruity, tangy, cherry and cereal aroma. Flavors of plums, caramel, chocolate. Sweet, rich, with a strong sour edge that I wonder might have come from dirty lines. Oxidized somewhat, like port. Big sour fruits, and a soft, velvety mouth. Good, but not in the best condition I believe.

Bottle. Amber colored beer with a brown/beige head. Some yeast in the beer. Maltu oily aroma, vinous, figs, chocolate notes, some leather. Malty fig flavor, raisins, fruity, grapes, syrup, a bit like a barley wine, very nice!

On tap at U Medvídků on 11th July 2010. Reddish with thin smooth diminishing head. Strong caramel aroma and cherry to blackcurrant fruit in a thick viscous textured mouthfeel. Rather sweet for my liking but astoundingly easy to drink now I know how strong it was!

0,33-as csatos üveg.

Thanks to rusty. Give me that damn glass fool! Sweet as hell with an interesting tart finish. Very different and really not bad at all. I get honey, brown sugar, maple syrup and some sweet woody flavors.
