Swing-top bottle that gives a shot and smoke when opened. Light yellow, creamy head over an orange coloured head. Plain hoppy to the nose. Has got some sweet caramel quality and a touch of lightly honeyed malt. Dry finish with a bitter touch at the end (Sampled at The St Albans Beer Festival, 28.09.2006).

Quickly becoming a fan of this brewer. Aroma of leather and hints of grass with malty bitterness. Flavor is good without being overly bitter. A great session beer.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2007 Gravity - Red copper body with a creamy off white head not lasting; Very elegant nose with a great balance of noble hop and malt with the malt aromas on the strong side; Full and bitter body with a superb balance; Long evolving finish lasting forever, very balanced aromas and feel. Great beer!..........Bottle (6-4-5-3-14=3.2) - Dark amber to brown body, thick off-white head, lacing; Malty bitter and caramel notes in nose; Bitter to harsh, thin body; Quite long bitter caramel like finish, watery textured.
Generally quite unbalanced.

Cloudy amber pour. Very light tan head that was small and didn’t last long. Sweet aroma. Caramel. The flavor was different - didn’t expect it. Hints of smoke - burnt wood chips, ash - roasted chicken. Then hop bitterness. Felt thin going in but after a swallow it feels waxy on the tongue. Bottle is cool. Love the swing top.

Bottle. Pours a decent mahogany with a nice head and lacing. Smells of sour strawberries. Flavor is a patch of dirt and fruit intertwined amongst copper wiring. Thin palate. Very bitter and caramel-like flavor. Interesting. Not sure if I would want another, but I can’t say I would refuse one.
