just 5 week old
Pours attractive dark chestnut with foamy beige head. Caramel, bread crusts and some herbal vegetation notes on the nose. Medium bodied and carbonation spot on, building bitterness, really fresh lemony hop snap in the middle well balanced by malt. Very decent alt

2/V/14 - on draft from a tiny wooden barrel @ Uerige pub in Carsh Haus (Düsseldorf) - BB: n/a (2014-463) Thanks to ThirstyBird for this round of beers! :-)

Clear amber beer, big aery yellowish head (could be the lighting), pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, caramel, bit sweet, grains, bit metallic, cow fodder. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very metallic, oh my god! Bitter hops, bit of citrus, grains, little fruity note, hay. Aftertaste: metallic, more metallic, bitter and grassy hops, caramel, and even more metallic.

Darkish in colour, clear. There is a certain sweetness to it, with a lingering bitter after taste.

Pours a clear light brown color with slight coppery undertone. The head is generous foamy and white. The aroma is very mild - some malts along with fruits. Perhaps there’s little caramel too. The taste is also mild and slightly sweet, finishing with nice little bitterness. A decent one again.

Rated from notes taken on 11 Sep 2011 -- Drank at Kickbacks in Jacksonville, FL. Big fan of this beer, alt’s intrigued me for a long time and I’m happy I was finally able to get a classic example of the brew.

Light brown pour with a tight off white head and lace. A flat malt flavor, papery, with a touch of fruit, Flavor mirrors aroma plus a funky bitter, and peppery. Medium bodied and fizzy. A flavor and aroma that just doesn’t seem right to me maybe a day past its prime

Shared a 50cl bottle. Pours a clear brown colour with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, dry fruits and lightly hoppy. Average to soft carbonation and light to medium body. Taste is really bitter with some sweet notes. Overall, resembles a bitter English beer. Full of flavour and character.

I’m embarrassed that I haven’t gotten around to rating this one though I drink it regularly....from a .5l bottle, pours a clear bright orange/brown color with a nice thick light tan head. The smell is some roasted malt, fruit, a earthy, hint of caramel and nice hop presence. The taste is tangy dry hops match up with fruit, toasted malt, hint of caramel ending wonderfully dry and slightly bitter.Light/medium in body with great finely constructed carbonation. One of my favs.

500ml bottle. Clear, deep, copper pour, big, puffy, beige head. Dark, caramel biscuit, toasted cereal aroma with some grassy hops, and some floral fruit. The finish is quite bitter, and also quite fruity. Loads of great malts, toasted cereals, some nuttiness. Man, this is an Alt! Awesome stuff. Now i understand the description of german equivalent to an english ale.
