It’s sweet and malty with a bitter, grassy and slightly piney hop note. Much hoppier than I expected. Full bodied, dry and warming. boto (1352), Granby, Connecticut, USA

This beer certainly has the longest, skinniest neck on a swing top that I have ever seen. It opens with a loud pfffft. Good color: is is a hazy, slightly reddish mahogany hue with a small head on it. Nice aroma. Notes of toffee, caramel, and some spiciness. An interesting taste. Slightly sweet, with some bitterness at the same time. The taste itself is quite complex. Full flavor, with notes of caramel, fruits, roastiness, and others coming through. A very good beer. thegreenrooster (1853), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Pour is a very dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is strong malts with a slight hop presence. Flavor is strong dose of malts with some biterness. Wow malts are out the wahoo on this brew. Some dark fruit is in there but nothing to get this one a better review. Still this is tasty and right in my range of how much i want to spend on a brew. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

Pours out a brown color with a tan colored head that resides through most of the beer. Smell is sugar, some smoked malts, hops, some wheat. Taste is similar, though slighly bitter from the rather high abv content for an altbier. Pretty good stuff, but Id prefer that my altbiers and other German style beers not taste like american barley wine. interesting though. Thanks for the bottles Matt. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

Medium brown with red hints. Small, quickly dissipating head. Very full and powerfull palate compliments the huge amount of malt flavor that you start with. The malt is followed by a slight hint of alcohol and a nice hop bite. Very full and lovely sweet malt flavor. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
