Uerige DoppelSticke might just be "Germany's interpretation of a barley-wine", ie a third definition next to England's "malt-driven" idea {such as JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale} and America's "hop-heavy" version {such as Sierra Nevada's BigFoot}. OG - 1085; IBU - 75; Ingredients; Hops:Spalt Spalter, Hallertauer Perle, Spalt Hallertauer; Malts: Pilsner malt, caramel malt, roasted malt

0,33 l bottle from REWE Budnik & Homberg, bottled in 2014. Clear, dark red with a thin, frothy, almost stable, tan head. Pleasant aroma of redcurrant, raisins, cherries, red grapes and a bit of port. Heavy, sweetish-fruity taste of raisins, molasses, prunes, figs and caramel. Long, slightly bitter and rather alcoholic, warming finish. Full body, oily and chewy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very heavy, barleywine-like beer. Decent winter warmer but a bit too alcoholic to be honest.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Lambertseter enjoyed at home
Pours dark, almost black in glass, creamy light tanned head. Smell of dark fruity malts, toffee, dried fruits, quite straight but at the same time exquisite! Modereate to medium sweet, dark fruits, toffee, dried fruits, hints of toast, dark fruit bitterness, fruit peel, medium bitter.. This is quite far away from the typical alt. Amazingly complex and interesting.

Bottle shared by Cliff. Pours a dark brown with tan head. Aroma and taste are dominated by malts, but there’s a pleasant hoppiness and slight alcohol burn.

Hazy, almost opaque brown with a fairly small head. Aroma very sweet, raisins, dark fruit, caramel, bubblegum. Taste...well... burnt raisins come to mind. And bunt sugar. Very sweet, but with a burnt note that is neither roasty nor toasty. As a barley wine it’s not bad, I guess, but it is an example of why mid-range crystal malts should be used sparingly.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2015 Aroma has dark fruits, plums, spices and chocolate. Flavor has malted caramel, chocolate and complex dark sugars... Almost an umami-like flavor as well! Finish is nicely balanced. Delicious beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
