Bottled 330ml @PBFVIII
This is something I have looked for a long time.
Deep ruby color, small off-white head. Malty, some hops and caramel. Medium-bodied. Sticky, sweet, caramelly and malty. Sweet and also alcoholic. Almost barleywineish.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Opens with a real PLOP, much better than anything of the kind I’ve heard. Pours cloudy dark amber with stable, creamy beige head. Dark aroma of fruit, malt and caramel with a subtle dusty touch. Dusty and hoppy onset, gradually giving way to a perfect syphony of caramel malt and fruit, beautifully accompanied by roasty overtones. Bitter and slightly roasty finish. Perfect. I just adore it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl freshish fliptop, danke Thirstybird. Obviously a quality offering with an unfathomable mixed complexity of a barley wine and malty old ale: rich milk chocolate liqeurs, red dried fruits, older molasses mix in with a dry, autumn leave palate and leafy Saphir hop elegance. A lot to experience, taste and admire, a tad harder to love outright. Definitely a post-prandic sipper, probably fit for culinary use and aging.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown unfiltered pour with an off-white head. Lots of dark fruit on the nose with plenty of malt and notes of yeast. Flavor is big sweet malts with notes of plum, dates, and brown sugar. Very complex. Abv is a bit noticeable but not overwhelming. A respectable offering.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Deep copper liquid with small deep off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, bread, biscuit, caramel, toast, nuts, toffee and dried fruit. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of toffee, raw sugar, caramel and bread. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Really nice, like a barley wine.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. flip top bottle. Bottled on 06 11… Can that be true? It pours a very dark orange/brown color with an orange colored head. The aroma is aged maltiness. Lots of toffee, sherry, almonds, hints of cocoa and heavy caramel. The flavor is very much like a barleywine with more nutty sherry notes amidst fairly strong bitterness but no hop flavor. Caramel and toffee sweetness is huge as is the body and mouthfeel. A bit heavy with the oxidation even for a two year old bottle. Interesting though. The only lager characteristics I get are the earthy noble type hops.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark brown with an off-white head that leaves a permanent lid. Rich malty aroma of dried fruit; dates, apricots and such, balanced by spicy hops. There is also notes of chocolate liqueur and dark Muscovado sugar. The taste is bitter-sweet and slightly herbal, almost Jäger-like though in a good, but I guess quite contradictory, way. The aftertaste is long and bitter. Low carbonation and rich mouthfeel. Wow, this was pretty awesome, like an English barley wine infused with lots of noble hops.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle poured into a kolsch glass. Pours a dark brown with a bit of a ruby hue and a half finger of light khaki head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, dark fermented fruits, raisins and some spicy hopiness. Taste is light sweet. Molasses, caramel, candi sugar, dark fruits, plum, and a bit of spicy, herbal hop bitterness. Full bodied with a sticky texture. Soft carbonation and a super long finish. Overall, awesome. Super long, surprisingly bitter and surprisingly boozy finish.
