Clean and crisp balance of fruit, alcohol, malt and hops. Slightly citric, roasted malt, caramelly, like honey-roasted almonds. Red fruits in rum, strawberries, raspberries. A faint hint of noble hops in the last whift. Very reminicent of some great american Barley Wine. Flavor is big with raisiny sweetness, caramel, nuts, dried fruits and preserves. Really syrupy sweet, but just barely rescued by a roasted malt finish and a dry bitter bite.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2009 Bottled on 05.03 and served in an Ayinger Celebrator glass. Pours clear dark brown with a half inch capping of khaki foam. The smell is reminiscent of a good barleywine. Notes of molasses, earth, honey, mint, and brown sugar. The flavor is very earthy with a lot of herbal mint and brown sugar underneath. The mouthfeel is very full and smooth with low carbonation. The finish lasts for quite sometime and leaves a simultaneous warming and cooling effect. Unlike any other German beer that I have ever had. Quite excellent. davisnmn (30), Connecticut, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 29, 2009 This vintage 2003 poured a really nice dark brown. The aroma is sweet malt and caramel which is exactly how the taste comes across to me. Sticky and thick is the best way to describe the palate. I would love to taste this beer a little younger just to see what aging does for it. I’m guessing it ages beautifully since the 2003 was so smooth. I’m thinking this beer is good candidate for you personal shelves! fiulijn (7520), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Brown color, small head. Good caramel aroma, light chestnut honey, nuts, hop. Perfect body strength, very rich caramel flavor; there is a nice sticky sweetness, dark honey, light roasted nuts; bold bitterness, and some hop qualities. Balanced, strong and complex. Conforting final warmth. The more I drink, the more I like this beer. Excellent. tastybeer (150), Washington DC, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2009 ~ Purchased this bottle from Big Z Beverage in Huntington, NY. This beer pours a dark brown with almost no head. The aroma consists of dark fruits, caramel, malt sweetness, and some spices. The taste is very similar to its smell. At 8.5% ABV, this went down surprisingly very smooth.
All in all, this is a beer that’s rich, bold, flavorful, and tastes great- what more could you ask for? ~ pellegjr (27), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Deep mahogany maple syrup pour w/ two finger foamy/creamy head, aroma is buttered toast and some dried cherry and rum, syrupy alcohol mouthfeel, sweet fruit up front that quickly leads to some hop bitterness before fading to a lingering warm alcohol finish. Good representative of the style. l1br4r14n (297), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2009 Tap. Sticky malt up front that backs off after a moment, some raisins, earthy, caramel. I can understand the comparisons to barley-wine. An interesting brew.
