Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today’s fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn’t negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Brown, clear, beige head. Aroma of toasty and nutty malt with definite leathery oxidation. Flavor is similar, nutty, malty, showing some age.

Pours a dark coppery brown with hardly and head or lacing. Sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar, and cinnamon on the nose. Dark tropical fruit, malty, caramel and sugar notes, raisins, plums, earthy, bready flavors. Hardly any hoppiness. A very nice alt beer.

Done decently with light roast malt and a great grain profile consistent for style. Pours orange. Light bitter finish. Hint of hops and some citrus here. Good stuff. Tap at Max’s.

Bottle from backlog notes 07. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, toasted bread, some orange citrus, resin, dry earthy bitterness, definitely bigger and more going on than the Alt.

one of the classics revisited. i had this first before tickers were even ticking. Malty body without being sweet, rich and layered malts without overdoing it in any direction. Fantastic stuff.

Deep coppery brown with a tan head. Smooth, malty, but a hint of fruit. Caramel, nuts, cherry, then a bit of hops bitterness through the finish.

Alt beer is brown. Quite malty without being too sweet. A bit nutty and cola like. Drinkable and very dry but exceedingly boring which i suppose is too style.

BOTTLE 50CL from Erzengel. Thanks, Gabriel. Look: clear dark mahogany, light beige creamy head with good retention. Aroma: malty - light caramel and fruity (but not too estery), minty hops, light zest. Taste: quite dry, caramel and fruitiness are well balanced by peppery bitterness with light phenolic notes. Some citrus too.

Rated from notes taken on 11 Sep 2011 -- Poured out of the bottle. This beer has a great complexity from the earthy hop flavor/aroma to the great sweet/carmel malt flavor. Impressive beer.

A- Pours a dark murky brown hue with a small head that fades quickly. S- Raisin, date T- Raisin, plum, slight lingering bitterness. M- Silky and medium bodied with ample carbonation. D- This is my first alt, but definitely enjoyed it. Easy drinking.
