Really cool bottle that would make a nice bong. Taste was sweet, full bodied and rich. Caramel color with a smallish head. Nice and malty with medium hop bite. Finish was very clean and I wish I had another.

Very good and interesting Altbier.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 rauchbier (3135) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2003
Many thanks to FrankenBier for getting hold of this rare Alt bock for me. Bottle. Chestnut, thin but long lasting white head and a good fine natural condition. Almost an English ale in the nose with caramel, toffee and sweet malt and a delicate hoppiness. Good balance of butterscotch, banana and hop flavour in the mouth and a lingering long sweet caramel and hop bitter finish. This must be superb fresh from a wooden cask.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 adnielsen (3108) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 13, 2011
Bottle @ home. Somewhat hazy, orangish amber appearance with a big foamy, tan head. Notably more hoppy than other Altbiers. Medium piney hops and a sweet caramel malty nose. Earthy, piney hoppy flavor on a quite sweet caramel malty flavor with some nuttiness. Much more aggressive flavor than the typical Uerige Alt. Somewhat hoppy bitter, dry finish. My least favorite of the Uerige Alt, Doppel Sticke, and this one.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FlacoAlto (3086) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - AUG 17, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2005 Bottled January 31, 2005, Sampled August 2005
Pours a brilliantly clear ruby amber color that is topped by a frothy, thinnish, tan colored head. The aroma is quite fruity with notes of brandy, and rum, hints of strawberry, citrus and lightly spicy notes. Actually a fairly interesting aroma that is still intriguing after these 6 months. The taste is lightly sweet and fairly malty with notes of caramel. This is quite fruity as well with notes of cherry, raisins, and a bit of strawberry and some notes of bergemot as well. For some reason the fruity character in an Alt I have always associated as an interesting mix of hop and malt character. This has held up much better, in the voyage across the Atlantic, than the regular Alt did, though it stills suffers quite a bit from the voyage.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Aurelius (3077) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 29, 2006
Finally a gold nugget plucked from my d.b.a. jaunt in NYC. Yummy, yeasty, bitter-style aroma. Great embossed latch bottle and woody brown beer. Buttery, woody, a bit cereal. Very enjoyable. Medium long woody finish. Adequately bittered with lots of character.
