4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - JAN 27, 2003
We found this in a liquor store in Düsseldorf and don't ask me why we dump asses haven't bought more of this delicious stuff. Can't think a about it without getting angry...Wonderful brew: Sweet, hoppy nose, hints of strawberries but light. Mahagony color with a big foamy head. Fresh, caramel taste, also roasted malt - very nutty. Syrupy, long lasting bitter finish - just so yummie - damn - I wanna have more in our cellar :-(
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 iowaherkeye (2431) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 24, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2008 Rerate. Bottled on 02.11. Code 12 02. Clear amber orange with a 1 1/2 finger off-white head, great retention. Aroma has some spicy citrus--not necessarily Pac NW hops--up front with lots of sweet toffee and caramel malts. A bit earthy and dry. The flavor adds a bit of a buttery caramel note and a bit of sulfurous skunkyness. Earthy dry finish (redundant?) with bitterness that peaked around a 4. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium body. Very nice beer, overall. Old rating follows. 11.2oz., Bottled on 25.11. Pours a clear copper brown with a moderate, very light beige head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, grain, a little grass. Hops make a bigger showing in the taste up front with a fair amount of bitterness. Creamy, medium body with soft carbonation. Very nice alt--I’m looking forward to their other two alt’s. 7-3-7-4-14--3.5
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vac (2420) - Capistrano Beach, California, USA - MAY 16, 2004
This alt pours with a clear amber body with a thin head and little lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with a brown sugar note. Not much else to the aroma. The flavor is sweet and malty but with a big amount of bitter hops for an alt. There is also a slight touch of brown sugar. Medium bodied and smooth with a touch of dryness.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Drew (2411) - Kent, Ohio, USA - APR 13, 2004
Very delicious - everything I could want in an Alt. Malts are caramel, bread and cookie dough (hint of cinamon). Fruityness in aroma and around the edges. Well hopped - warming and rounded (I think the Blimp City had a slightly "brighter" hop to it). Medium thick and very smooth. Now, I'd like to see this in a six pack - very easy drinking and well balanced.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Allen (2394) - SWITZERLAND - MAY 10, 2010
Bottled 33cl. Surprisingly inviting hop presence in the nose. Great balance between hops and malt throughout. Raisins showing up. Good bitterness. Dry finish. Tasty, delicious, very nicely brewed with a huge amount of character. A gem.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 shigadeyo (2394) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - JUL 13, 2007
7/13/2007: Uerige Alt is honey amber in color with a slightly more reddish tone than the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/uerige-alt/7836/ Alt. This beer is pretty clear and has a thin off-white head that doesn’t last long. The aroma is rich and has caramelized malt and little bit of fruit (apple and something else). The flavor is also malty, but not overly sweet. The malt flavor in the Uerige Sticke is definitely darker tasting (not necessarily roasted; caramelized is probably most apropos) than the Uerige Alt. The malt is balanced by a reserved hop presence and bitterness level. There is also a little bit of fruit in the flavor that is difficult to describe (maybe dark berries?). The finish of this beer is also nicer than the Uergie Alt and the citrus peel afertaste isn’t quite as pungent. The body of this beer is medium and it feels a bit heavier in the mouth than the Uerige Alt. It is smooth on the palate. Uerige Sticke is a very drinkable Alt Bock and is pretty good overall.
0,33 L/11,2 fl. oz. flip-top bottle (Bottled on 25.11. 6% Alc./Vol. Code 12 25) from The Party Source. Rating #252 for this beer...
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DrnkMcDermott (2393) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - FEB 7, 2005
Bottle dated 25/10. I’m spending my Super Bowl watching time enjoing this and <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/uerige-alt/7836/ Alt. Have to say, this may be a bit over-hyped. Pours a foamy head; more settled than the UAlt. The malts are a bit smoother, like this has gotten some good aging in, and the hops have mellowed out, too, with bitterness only showing up in the aftertaste. There is a definite feel of more alcohol than the regular UAlt. I had expected something roasty or smoky, but couldn’t really catch it. May be flatter, or just supposed to me more subtle and mellowed.

Outstanding altbier. Thanks Ron at Vintage Estates. Beautiful brown pour with a 2 finger off white head. Aroma of malt. Taste of roasted malt, caramel and some hop in the finish. Perfectly carbonated and nice dry but satisfying finish.
