COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Pours a hazy light orange brown color with huge froathy billowing offwhite head. Aroma is earthy woodsy hops. Flavor is malty slightly bittersweet, earthy oaky hops, some doughiness, decently dry and hoppy bitter finish. Overall, complex yet simple beer, definitely worth a try.

Draft at Churchkey shared by kmweaver. Clear orange brown pour with a thin light tan head. Toasted malt aroma with molasses and a good amount of cereal. Nutty, toasted flavor. Some sweetness and honey, though overall a dry pour. Strawberry and raspberry notes.

Had this one bottled. Medium reddish color, somewhat effervescent, very little head, quite hoppy and bitter with notes of orange, lemon and banana, fading quickly into a nutty taste at the back of the palate.

2006? Pours a copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is of toasted malts, dark fruits, slight roasted malts, and molasses. Flavor is of toffee, caramel malts, slight toasted and roasted malts, molasses, and some dark fruits. I’m glad I came across this beer.

Bottle. Dark amber, hazy, average and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate malty and caramel sweetish aroma, some roastiness and hoppyness, light alcohol. Body is average, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and alcohol. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some alcohol and light caramel. Nice hoppy aroma, but flavor lacks the hoppyness – quite a lot of sweet malty alcohol in the flavor/finish.

Bottle thanks to Willblake at the NYRBG. Clear, light brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is mildly sweet malts, buttery toffee and some nuttiness. Flavor is buttery, sweet malts, nuts and a hint of hops in the background. Very creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle. Extremely sweet aroma when bottle is popped. Small white head, brown caramel body. Strong caramel in aroma, very sweet, some alcohol. Flavor is not as potent as aroma, but very similar, with alcohol in aftertaste. I would have guessed that the ABV is much higher than 6.5%. Fairly good, but could use a little balance, and it seems more like a bock to me.
