COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2012 A gem among the german "ales", dark ruby coloured; extremely full bodied, sweetish in the beginning, a "warm welcome" from the brewer; astonishingly easy to drink for a beer of this strength (6,5%) ! Superbly rounded with a long, long hoppy aftertaste, caused by umbelled hops. Served only on two days a year. Worth a journey ! Re-rated: (Sticke-Day 18/10/05) One of the most pefect brews You can find in Europe !!!!!!

Bottle. Poured dark brown with a large frothy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Moderate tart fruit rye aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Medium complex balanced flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration. Very interesting beer.

Gravity cask at Blind Tiger. Deep brown beer with a very cloudy appearance. Aroma is very herbal and earthy. Lots of noble, herbal/spicy hops. Flavour is also hoppy with fresh cut wood, herbs and a light mintiness. Lingering herbal bitterness. Undertones of earthy grainy malts. Really tasty.

Pours a clear dark copper brown with a thin and short lived head. Aroma is dry and caramely malty with a touch of chocolate and some hoppy balance. Body is dry and earthy with some dark sweetness and caramel malt. This could use some balance, and is not something I’d be paying $5/bottle for again any time soon. Still a nice alt, but overrated and overpriced.

Red copper beer with almost no carbonation or head. But the aroma! Nice hops come out, which is surprising for a german brew. Taste is very complex wih a nice malty start and a lingering german hops finish, but everything is there very subtely. This is like the fine beer, very "racée" yet very fresh. Not bored at all...a big big thanks for the MaibockAddict himself .

Lange anhaltend. Speziell!13/12/13/12//12

(bottled 2003 version) Chestnut brown, orange shine; yellow-brown head, not very ample. Nose is surprisingly dominated by caramel-aroma; some chocolate and a vague shrubbery aroma. Taste is very bitter; combination of hops and roasted malts, flavours of hopoil, black chocolate, cookies, but some cardboard too. Quite well-bodied, bitterness is not long-lasting but more instantaneous, coming up very hoppy and than fading away. It's my second time to taste Sticke, first time bottled. But the impression is the same as the draught on the premisses: I strangely prefer the regular Alt! That is more honest hops, and the ultimate drinking ale (Westmalle Extra possibly excluded). It's still extremely good all the same - shame about the lame nose.

Spicey bread and apricots and apricots with a chemical aroma discussed as acetone. Strong alcohol smells and some smoked licorice as well... interesting mixture in the nose. Very fresh and resinous. Thanks to hey_kevin for sharing the bottle!
