COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

11.2 oz bottle. tawny chestnut color fills the glass. the brew is a little hazy, with an even caramel tone. well formed creamy light tan head. nose of soft sweetish grains. caramel and bread crust with a touch of honey and dried fruit. dry english style malts provide a fine earthy flavor. mild hop finish is crisp and clean. lasting piney taste stays on the tounge. yum

Pours a very murky brown in color. Very little head on the pour. Only a ring of froth around the edges. Smell is very caramel and port like. Age has done this beer wonders. Very creamy and very dark malts. Plenty of aged sherry like port in the flavor. This was a huge surprise. Very well done.

Swingtop bottle pours a clear copper body that supports a lush beige head. Mostly malt aroma with toffee and caramel, complimented by spicy and floral hops. Taste is a pleasant balance of caramel toasted malty sweetness and bitter hops for balance. The hops seem to have notes of soft fruit, florals and a vague earthiness. Really nice alt.

Pours a cloudy brown color with a sticky tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Sticky(e) and thick sweet caramel and malts aroma. Pretty bitter and malty. Palate is thick and sticky. Creamy texture to it. This is like what a German IPA would taste like. The only bad thing about this beer is the price.

On tap a the braurei (only 2 days per year, so I was lucky to be there on that date!). Wow! So tasty, nutty, malty, very good mouthfeel with a lot of earthy hops. Incredible beer when it’s fresh! Soft carbonatation and unfiltered helps to get all the flavors. This beer is a must for any altbier lover!

Pours a hazy brownish red ting with a big fluffy Uerige style head. The aroma is of coffee, milk chocolate, light caramel, and some herbal hops. The flavor is nicely hoppy (noble of course) with some mild but pleasant mineral character and a good roastiness. The beer is largely dry with little hints of caramel sweetness. I think I like this just slightly less than the regular alt, but I rated them the same so perhaps a side by side is warranted.

Bottled on 25.10, Code 11 26, whatever that means. Great looking bottle! Stored in a friend’s uncle’s basement since he bought leftover stock from an out-of-business liquor store a few years ago in the DC area. Muddy brown color and cloudy with very small head and no lacing. Aroma was rich and malty. Flavor had strong caramel notes, malts, some bitter hops, and was still a little sweet. Very interesting and good for my first Alt

Intense and memorable honey aroma with a cloudy pour resembling a hefe. Relatively bitter initial taste evolves into a smooth and enjoyable finish. Quickly dissolving head leaves a beautiful lacing along the edges of the mug. My first known experience with an Altbier was a memorable one...would recommend this brew! An extremely complex finish gives a strong overtone of bread flavor accentuated by hints of orange and brown sugar
