COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours murky copper brown in color with a thin white head, leaving lots of lace. Aroma is complex, lots of fruit, tobacco, and grassy hops. This beer is very malty, medium body, nice citrus note, and a smooth malty, sweet finish.

Many thanks to FrankenBier for getting hold of this rare Alt bock for me. Bottle. Chestnut, thin but long lasting white head and a good fine natural condition. Almost an English ale in the nose with caramel, toffee and sweet malt and a delicate hoppiness. Good balance of butterscotch, banana and hop flavour in the mouth and a lingering long sweet caramel and hop bitter finish. This must be superb fresh from a wooden cask.

Bottle: Medium brown clear body w/ a light beige lasting head. Toasty Mucich malt aroma w/a light roast and very, very light caramel; Slight floral hop behind everything else as it warms. Flavor starts out w/ toasty malt, very well balanced, but quickly turns pleasantly bitter that lasts well into the finish and aftertaste; light roasty w/ some hop flavor in the finish as well, finishes on the dry side. Very clean and crisp. Light medium body w/ low carbonation and a slightly prickly feeling from CO2, but very smooth overall. This is what I imagined a D. Alt to taste like if I'd ever had one before this point. Very clean and pleasantly bitter; It has Czech Pils rounded bitterness w/ a Munich Dunkel grain characteristic, but lighter and more delicate. Great stuff!

Bottle: Pours a dark mahogany color with a light white head and nice bubbly lacing. Clean mild sugars and caramel malts, plums, nice light melanoidins and a subtle roastiness that blends all this sweetness and light noble hops together. Balanced malty mouthfeel. Creamy body and a smooth mouthfeel. Meaty and juicy altbier.

Spicey bread and apricots and apricots with a chemical aroma discussed as acetone. Strong alcohol smells and some smoked licorice as well... interesting mixture in the nose. Very fresh and resinous. Thanks to hey_kevin for sharing the bottle!

No head. Light brownish red body with some haziness. Sweet powerfully floral malty aroma with cinnamon and caramel notes, slightly earthy. Sweet roasty licorice taste with some cinnamon. Very fruity. Intense cinnamon aftertaste. Incredibly delicate and well balanced. Not too powerful, but much better for it. Excellent! Really something special. (0.33l bottle.)
