Amber color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is bready and fresh with some molasses in the nose. Flavor is like taking a big bite of fresh bread - some nice sweetness in there thats balanced well with a nice helping of hops. Good Alt!

Outstanding altbier. Thanks Ron at Vintage Estates. Beautiful brown pour with a 2 finger off white head. Aroma of malt. Taste of roasted malt, caramel and some hop in the finish. Perfectly carbonated and nice dry but satisfying finish.

Bottle. Dark brown color with deep red hues and a very bubbly medium-sized head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, fruits, light floral hints and some slightly herbal hops. Sweetish malty flavor with some toasted bread, caramel, nuts (including some chestnut notes) and a bitter herbal finish with faint earthy notes. Medium-bodied. A good quaffable beer, I hope I’ll get to try some more Stickes in the future.

This beer pours a very dark caramel color, with little head. The aroma is very prominently of malt. It tastes of malt with a smooth and creamy palate, with a little bite in the aftertaste from the hops. It’s odd that this beer seems to be malty, then bitter, instead of both simultaneously. A very good beer, definitely worth trying if you’re a fan of German styles. Prost!

A little flat out of the bottle - the old school stopper didn’t hold carbonation during the eight months of cellaring. Nice red color, no head (not surprising). No off tastes, not as full-flavored as expected, given the other comments - probably a bottle past its prime. Rating adjusted to account for that fact.

11.2 fl oz swing top bottle purchased at Lukas in Kansas City, Missouri. Bottled on 10.08 code 09.09. Opens with a pop. Pour is hazed orange copper brown with a lasting three inch creamy off white head. Head falls eventually with thick foamy lacing. Aroma of fresh grass, herbal hay and slight lemon citrus element. Under that is an almost minty grain element. The freshness of the nose really surprised me; given the age of this bottle(perhaps I am just misreading the bottled on, perhaps this is August 10th, not October 2008) I was expecting something a bit duller. Taste is clean grain biscuit sweet malt up front, followed quickly by the grass hay herbal and citrus of the nose. The finish has some nice yeast character to it, showing some clove and spice. Palate is medium, with active carbonation. Really satisfying and easy to drink.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours caramelly amber with a slight haze. Fine, staying, frothy, off-white head. Aroma is malty, sweet, some caramel. Good citric and flowery hoppiness as well. A hint of toffee. Medium carbonation, good and dry mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely balanced, lots of sweet maltiness, toasted, caramel, grassy. Long, lingering aftertaste with good toasted caramel and a good deal of bitterness. Really nice and very drinkable.

Appearance: Pours a clear mahogany body with a lasting, lace-inducing white head.
Smell: Lovely aroma of toasted fresh bread with earthy hints of nuts, vanilla, and molasses. Plenty of those dark fruits, too.
Taste: Upfront, there’s the flavors of dark, scorched caramel with a bit of chocolate. Sweetness remains light. There’s a flash of lemon juice midway which leads into an earthy bitterness with strong notes of wood that further builds into an exceedingly, and rather surprising dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Starts off with a great aroma, but the taste slips just a bit. Oh, and what an adorable looking bottle!
