COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today's fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn't negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

Pours a one-finger white head that quickly fades leaving no lace. Slightly cloudy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose seems to be caramel. Starts and finishes with a balance of malts and hops but there is some sweetness hard to describe this - maybe a combination of a barley wine and a sweet stout for flavor, but it doesn’t look anything like a stout. $4 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

(Bottle) Packaged in a cool looking flip-top bottle. Pours an amber-brown with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malts, and hops. Flavors of caramel, banana-nut bread, malts, and butterscotch. Enjoyable beer.

I’m pretty sure this is October 2005. Pours a deep amber color with a fairly thick white head. German hops are dominate and compliment an apple like malt aroma. I enjoy the flavor of this beer but it is not incredibly complex. Bitter german hops and a sweet malt backing make this easy to drink and thirst-quenching as water in hell. Solid offering.

Bottle from my secret santa. Thanks! Pours a dark golden brown with a small white head. Aromas of honey and sweet malts, with some dark fruit notes in there. Taste is bitter and sweet, with generous earthy and bready notes. Doesnt leave an offensive taste on the palate, but it doesnt really excite me either. A well done beer for what it is, but still not my favorite thing to consume. Easy drinking.

On tap @ Redlight. Cloudy opaque leather color with a thin, even, very light tan head. Light grainy aroma, slight nuttiness, slight earthy hops. Nice smooth taste - heavy, spicy malts.

Swing top bottle. Pours a dark hazy amber with a towering bubbly ecru head. aroma is toasty and bready. Flavours are toasty toffee with hints of yeasty fruit and nuts. Moderately bitter finish. Very nice.

Thanks DarkElf! pours a clear amber color with virtually no head and no lacing at all. ARoma is extremely full of caramel and hops with hints of grass, quite smooth and enjoyable to the nose. Flavor is similar, but just not as good as the aroma. Strong caramel and grass tones through-out with a punch of hops at the end. I liked this beer, but thought the aroma was better than the flavor.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small but lasting light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, and floral hops. Taste is sweet caramel and a well balanced dose of hops. Medium mouthfeel. Very good.
