4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 nearbeer (2572) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 1, 2008
33 cl. Bottled on 02,11. Code 1202. Lightly hazy chestnut with a lasting eighth-inch cream. Frosting all over the glass. Aroma of cocoa, plum, apple and earth-spiced molasses. Front flavors of raisin and apple coated in caramel, chocolate and some earthy spice. Slowly turns more roasty with cocoa, toasted nut and woody flavors that provide a nice bittersweet finish. Medium body is smooth, lightly tingly and finishes dry.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2010 Bottle. Complex and highly drinkable masterpiece! The aroma has got some overpowering malts, and also more hops than i would have expected. Complex taste of dark, dark syrup and mighty mighty malt. The aftertaste has got some citrus hops and a smoked malt bitterness. Well balanced and smooth.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Grima (1200) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - DEC 16, 2010
After a year’s storage in cellar, the famous Uerige Sticke will be rated now! Apparently they have screwed down the alcohol content, because my version has only 6.0%. The beer in glass is a typical german Altbier, nut brown beer with a large, fine and very durable cream crown. The smell is revealed bitter roasted malt with chocolate-caramel aromas. The beer starts heavily roasted malt and pleasantly bitter and very spicy, slightly bitter chocolaty tones play in the background. By the further course, the hop bomb explodes more and more, and the beer reminds me on a good American IPA. The finish gets more chocolaty, and there, the hops are joining a long finish. Handle an absolute top beer. Fresh it wouldn’t probably taste better than the "one-year stored version"!

Swing top fløska. Tobacco brown with short lived ivory head. Minimal lacing. Delicious mixture of malt, caramel, nuts, chocolate, bread and fruits. Silky mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Don’t notice the hops too much but still a very enjoyable brew!

Aroma is very similar to a bitter only nuttier, just like the general description of altbiers. The flavor is fruity and malty, with almost an earthy or coffee-like flavor to it. Not very familiar with altbiers although this was a very good ale regardless.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Schanulleke (8) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 30, 2005 does not count
Tasted 18th jan. 2005 at the brewery. A very good beer but measured bitterness was only 26 IBU’s. All the stories on the internet about higher hoprates and dry hopping are b******t. It has more alcohol than Uerige Alt, but less bitterness.

Not only is the beer inside the bottle very good, the bottle itself is unique and very eyecatching. Shaped like a German handgrenade, the beer won’t blow up the taste buds with anything unusual, but it you will be happy that you took the time to drink this. An aroma of sweet caramel malts, earthy hops, slightly nutty, and a bit oxidized. A ruddy brown, hazy color with a 1-finger thick head. Caramel malts, grassy with just a touch of spices makes this one a drinker. Reminded me of a subdued English barleywine in some ways. Very tasty beer. I enjoyed this one much more than their Dopple Sticke.

Bottle from pivnizub, děkuji. Dark amber color with small beige head. Aroma of dried red fruit, flowery hints, caramel. Taste, starts as little bit as medicine, then continues with caramel, malt, some brandy like hints. Long bitter, alcoholic finish. Nice.
