Clean copper brown pour with a thin off white head. Nose is malt forward, biscuity with light grainy notes. Sweet and dextrinous and almost sharp. Light bitterness and spicy hops.

Bottle from Uerige Brauerei. Real creamy, thick white head. Refreshing aroma of hops, burned malt, but very floral, which is unusual for an Alt. Nice balance between hops and malt, I would have expected it to be heavier on the malty side.
This is nice, this beer is like a double-"Uerige" (not taking the Doppelsticke into account which has a different charakter then "Uerige Alt" and the "Sticke"). Uerige has always been the most hoppy one of all the Duesseldorfer Alts, and this one pushes this impression even further.
Rated this in comparison with the Schumacher "Latzenbier", as I wanted to compare the special seasonal brews of both breweries. Tastes totally different, very hoppy, stonger hops than malts. First of, the taste starts vivid with citrus, caramel, three-grain bread and some plums. Whats special about this, just where you would expect a malt focus, the hop kicks in. Makes it enjoyable refreshing, adds a complex bitterness to the beer.Taste disappears very quick, as the "Schumacher Latzenbier" has a long lasting bitterness.

Drank it side by side with the normal Alt from Uerige. This one is more my style, even if Alt isn’t really my style at all. In any case, this one had more everything which can sometimes backfire, but in this case it made it better. Sweeter but more bitterness, more hop aroma, still a hint of fruitcake or something, but the other bits kinda balance it out. If I ever found myself in Dusseldorf, I would probably drink one or two of these before I started to think about Kölsch.

Bottle. This is a great beer. A real stylistic classic that is best enjoyed with roast meats and grainy mustard.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap on Sticke Day. Pours a deep orange/brown color with a lofty thick tan cap. The smell is roasted malt, floral and citric hops and fruity. The taste is floral, roasty, with a sweet malt backbone. It has the above notes hop characteristics and some licorice coming through later while ending dry and slightly bitter. The body is light/medium and the carbonation is elegant and superbly done. A great altbier and especially wonderful when it is fresh from the barrel.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
on tap at the brewery. The beer starts malty, nice hop aromas appear to the middle part, a great combination of floral hops with the malty Alt-character. The aftertaste is long, roasted malt, bittering hops and still floral hop notes together with the full bodied Alt-taste! Also slightly sweetish-fruity <br>
--> A great brew!

This pours a muddy brown color with a slight beige head. The aroma is slightly malty but that’s about it. It has a very interesting malt flavor to it. There are hints of caramel as well as a little sourness. Lot of unique, hard to describe flavors to describe, but interesting never-the-less.
