3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 CanIHave4Beers (2002) - Des Moines, USA - NOV 5, 2009
Pours a hazy brownish red ting with a big fluffy Uerige style head. The aroma is of coffee, milk chocolate, light caramel, and some herbal hops. The flavor is nicely hoppy (noble of course) with some mild but pleasant mineral character and a good roastiness. The beer is largely dry with little hints of caramel sweetness. I think I like this just slightly less than the regular alt, but I rated them the same so perhaps a side by side is warranted.

A sweet smell, but not very sweet on the tongue. This is not a favorite style of mine, but I enjoyed this. Very drinkable. Maybe too drinkable considering the price. I would have like some more complexities.

330mL bottle, side-by-side with Doppel Sticke, pours a very murky dark brownish orange with a small ring of off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, wet bread, lager yeast, toasted nuts and some dark fruits. Flavour is quite nutty, woody and a bit herbally - wet bread, toasted nuts, some slight caramel notes, some dry fruit and some slight floral notes. Finishes dry, semi-bitter, bready and nutty - medium astringency lingers. Quite good, though I don’t understand the hype on this one.

Bottle 50cl, from Quack-duck thanks a lot ! A clear amber-red beer with good head and lacing. Nose is malty and caramel like. Aroma is malty, toasted, caramel and nutty / coconut notes, medium sweet, nice hops bouquet, floral, chocolate notes, dry fruit hints, long bitterness on aftertaste. A great Alt bier, thanks very much Stephan.

11.2 oz, bottled 01/11. Poured into a Captain Lawrence snifter and got a nice coconut white head atop clear garnet brown. Nose is sweet, nutty; maybe pecans, caramel and molasses; even some stewed prunes in there. Taste is a letdown after the malty subtleties of the aroma. Watery caramel and muddled grassy bitterness finishing with black pepper. Could be okay for a few pints.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Cuso (1485) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - NOV 4, 2011
Bottle from pivnizub, děkuji. Dark amber color with small beige head. Aroma of dried red fruit, flowery hints, caramel. Taste, starts as little bit as medicine, then continues with caramel, malt, some brandy like hints. Long bitter, alcoholic finish. Nice.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 laiti (1000) - Tampere, FINLAND - OCT 30, 2011
50 cl bottle, rated on 19.10.2010
Brown-orange colour, murky. Aroma has solvent, some berries typical to Danish ales and some pineapple-like fruit. Flavour is sweetish with malt and Danish berries. The berries and solvent do disturb a bit, but this is still somewhat interesting.
