Carnival comes but once a year - and you can only enjoy Sticke beer at Uerige twice a year. It contains more malt and hops and has a higher alcoholic content than normal Altbier. And our guests appreciate it! In earlier days it used to be whispered hand over mouth that Uerige was serving Sticke again because the master brewer had portioned the ingredients too generously. With today’s fully-automated operation, this could not happen. So Sticke beer is brewed intentionally - and this certainly doesn’t negatively effect either its quality or taste.

The two dates every year are always the same. The third Tuesday in January and October are the two Sticke days.

This is the second occasion that I have had Zum Uerige Sticke in the bottle. Both were imported to the US. In fact, my beer was dated 10.25 meaning that it was a 2005 bottle. Bloody shame!Needless to say, this beer does not seem to hold up very well in the bottle, especially after one year. The aroma had pronounced notes of prune that must have been from oxidation. The malt presence was considerable as was the hop flavor and bitterness. The balance of the clean flavors begs this to be sampled from its birthplace.

Bottle, 6.0%. Malty aroma, syrupy and slightly fruity. Hazy dark brown colour. Small creamy white head. The flavour is malty with a weak caramelly note and a slightly spicy hoppiness. A little watery for the ABV, and also a thin mouthfeel.

Very nice bottle but without information about the drinktemperature. A dark-brown beer with a cream-colored head, malty, roasty, good balance betweeN sweetness and bitterness, medium body, flat carbonation, like a barrel aged, (I have 0.33l bottle with batch L11316 and best-before 04.17)

Many thanks for my Uncle who take me and find this place in Dusseldorf. Small Swing-Top bottle buy in Dusseldort at the Brewery in late Autumn 2015y. Wow co za gigantyczna i trwala piana. Niesamowity zapach sliwek i octu balsamicznego. Ciemno rubinowe piwo, poteznie metne. W smaku wytrawne, owocowo beszamelowe, troche dojrzałych wisni, nieco karmelu ale bardzo, bardzo niewiele i ta super swierzosc chmielna. Czuc go juz przy glosnym wystrzeleniu krachli. Super jakosc i zroznicowany smak. Polecam, najlepiej w browarze.

From the bottle poured into Spiegelau IPA Glass. Nose of malts and typical uerige yeast. Slightly floral and some alcoholic hints. Taste is slightly bitter, hints of bubblegum and alcohol. Malty herbal hoppy finish... Good...

Bottle thanks to Bursprak! Pours hazy orange/brown with an off white head. Aroma of bready yeast, fresh baked bread, sweet malts, weak cake and some old hops. The taste has what, slight tart notes, dry grains, sweet malts and bready yeast. Alright!
