willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Nov 1, 2009 20090919 Tap at Max’s. Lightly clouded golden with medium white head. Mild, oddly lagery aroma. Soapy, floral flavor. Heavy carbonation and fizzy but despite that not enough to cut through very sweet finish. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland May 20, 2009 Bottled (thanks Bov!). Hazy yellow colour, huge white fluffy head. Aroma is wheat, some a bit lagery "malty and hoppy figures" along with some herbs and citrusfruits. Flavour is wheat, yeast, some slight lagery notes as well as some earthyness. Almost wheat meeting Kölsch or something like that. Yet very nice and drinkable.
Allen (1282), Switzerland Apr 16, 2009 Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of Bov. Appearance: It pours a hazy golden beer with a surprisingly small quick diminishing white head. Poor lacework. Aroma: The nose doesn’t remind me of Hefeweizen. Gooseberry, burnt match, lychee and elderflower showing up. Not typical for the style at all. Very different indeed. Flavor and palate: Good hop and malt presence. Nice balance. Very drinkable. Fruity. Low carbonation. Dry finish. Overall impression: An atypical Hefeweizen. Interesting. Thanks Bov! Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Mar 15, 2009 draught at the brewery - hazy blond colour with a persistent white foam; quite discrete nose with a touch of grapefruit; clean palate with some sweetness; some bitterness and a medium malt body; quite smooth finish with a weird earthy touch - an unconventional weizen; a wonder it still exists considering the reluctance of the waiters to serve it jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Jan 2, 2009 Bottle@Home. Lemon aroma with hints of veggies. Cloudy, pale yellow, white head, fair lace. Light sweet, bitter, lemon, quite neutral overall and thinnish. Uninteresting Weizen. Nekronos (2243), Xalapa, Mexico Oct 10, 2008 A little better, but quite incipit. Very cloudy which I like. I wish my german was better so I could aks for the rest of the beers. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium May 5, 2008 I love Uerige’s Altbier, so this was a severe disappointment. Lesson learned: Never order a Weizen in an Altbier pub. Beer was a slightly hazy and sickly pale yellow with thin, white head. Faint, lemony and grainy nose. Not much flavor, a low citric tartness and faint bitterness but otherwise pretty bland. Watery. Sorry, but its alleged Altbier leanings do not save it from being a shabby wheat beer. Hate to give an Uerige beer such a low score, but this is an honest rating. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 30, 2007 Classic cloudy golden pour topped by a fading, fizzy white head. Rather straightforward wheat nose without much backup. A certain banana tartness develops with crème fraîche and baking powder undertones, but the ensemble is not that pleasant as it greatly lacks crispness. Little phenols nor yeast character. Creamy palate as the foaminess dies off, rather dry, akin to banana chips. Quite simple weizen.
