UPDATED: JUN 16, 2007 A hefe with alt qualities and in a way I am reminded of the Sunner Hefe which has klosh like qualities. I liked a hefe with notes of pepper. Page 467 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 230 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2009 Fliptop from the flughafen. A beautifully rounded specimen. Sourish, slightly rubbery nose. A touch of characteristic alty clementine fruit, developing into almost lambic sourness. Tart but appetisingly cereally with fresh wheat after the swallow. A tragedy I only brought one 330cl bottle home and, worse, had to share it.

(bottle) pours a hazy golden colour with a creamy white head. aroma of caramel and wheat, with a light peachy fruitiness, a bit understated. flavour is much more pronounced, with lots of bubblegum, wheat, peaches, some notes of banana, lychee and fruity hop spices. medium body with smooth carbonation and a velvety finish. an excellent weizen!
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 eczematic (1284) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - NOV 10, 2002
Not a very weizeny weizen - it tastes like it’s made with the same yeast as the alt. eggy sulfur in the aroma gives it away. taste is meaty, round, and a bit like peach iced tea - juicy and a tad acidic. a weird one, but i liked it by the end of the glass.

Bottled (thanks Bov!). Hazy yellow colour, huge white fluffy head. Aroma is wheat, some a bit lagery "malty and hoppy figures" along with some herbs and citrusfruits. Flavour is wheat, yeast, some slight lagery notes as well as some earthyness. Almost wheat meeting Kölsch or something like that. Yet very nice and drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2007 Draught at the brewpub. Lightly hazy golden, small dense head. Fruity nose wih some banana. Medium bodied with spritzy mouthfeel. Evidently estery, but more in the altbier sort of way than the weihenstephaner. Short spritzy finish. A good cross of weizen and altbier.
