COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It’s a beer that’s been thought about for quite some time – actually since the brewers first visit to Sherbrooke Liquor in Edmonton, AB, Canada a few years back, and finally I did it – I manned up and did it! After a whole freaking day of brewing coffee for this beer I can truly say it is Craft. If not devoted to the product who in their right mind would brew hundreds of litres of coffee for a beer? The result is a big and bold smooth Porter with discrete vanilla and coffee notes.
Hops: Magnum, Nelson Sauvin Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black, Vanilla and coffee.

0.33 L bottle, sent me from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Pours an opaque black, topped by a firm creamy choco head. Smells nice. Powdery cocoa, ash/soot, licorice and well roasted dark malts. Taste is burnt dark malts, quite bitter and tarry. A fair deal of salty licorice, notes of soy sauce, and some inviting tones of tinned dark fruts. Vanilla can be noticed, but overpowered by the heavy malts. Balancing hop bitterness. Medium body. Kind of chalky in the mouth. Salty licorice, burnt malts and an indefinable bitterness in the finish. Pretty good, but not my favorite black ale. Too much too soon.

Draught. Black in color, with thin thin head. Vanilla, some wooden notes. Roasted coffee beans in taste. Vanilla, some coffee liqour in aftertaste as well. A bit wooden notes and just a slight feeling of some booze in finish as well as that vanilla kind of feeling. Quite nice.

Nice black colour, cream head. Smells of late sunday mornings, coffee and pancakes. Strong coffee taste with a faint sweetness of vanilla. Not too bad, but too much coffee for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
