COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It’s a beer that’s been thought about for quite some time – actually since the brewers first visit to Sherbrooke Liquor in Edmonton, AB, Canada a few years back, and finally I did it – I manned up and did it! After a whole freaking day of brewing coffee for this beer I can truly say it is Craft. If not devoted to the product who in their right mind would brew hundreds of litres of coffee for a beer? The result is a big and bold smooth Porter with discrete vanilla and coffee notes.
Hops: Magnum, Nelson Sauvin Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black, Vanilla and coffee.

Pours an opaque very dark brown almost black and a couple fingers of tan head that seems to last in the form of a sizeable ring around the glass. Aroma is coffee, rich chocolate and vanilla, roasted malt, a hint of alcohol. Flavours are chocolate, roasted malts, coffee bitterness, and a warming alcohol finish.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy light brown head. Aroma of sweet vanilla, roast malts, chocolate, coffee and a slight bit of booze. Taste is sweet malts up front with some hint of vanilla in the background. Roasted malts and a coffee bitterness round out the taste that has a nice alcohol warming on the finish.

Tap @ the JB Aalborg. Pour dark brown/nearly black, with a small slightly frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, slight vanilla, licorice, some bitter hops, slight mill chocolate. The taste is slightly sweet upfront, with a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied, with a slightly fizzy carbonation.

0.33 L bottle, sent me from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikk. Pours an opaque black, topped by a firm creamy choco head. Smells nice. Powdery cocoa, ash/soot, licorice and well roasted dark malts. Taste is burnt dark malts, quite bitter and tarry. A fair deal of salty licorice, notes of soy sauce, and some inviting tones of tinned dark fruts. Vanilla can be noticed, but overpowered by the heavy malts. Balancing hop bitterness. Medium body. Kind of chalky in the mouth. Salty licorice, burnt malts and an indefinable bitterness in the finish. Pretty good, but not my favorite black ale. Too much too soon.
