3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cirrhosis (1072) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 26, 2012
Brought the 1.5L "Hans Across the Water" version to my parents for Christmas, was a big hit with every one. Big bold dark brown body with large hard to control crown....the pour took forever. Aroma was mildish but descent, roasted malts with sweet coffee, hints of vanilla........or is the beer description screwing with my mind........man did I ever take piss poor notes on this beer. Seriously I’ll have written down five times is coffee, sweet, and roasted malts....I was sober to.....kids running around every where. I did truly enjoy this beer, wish I took better notes I trust my number though.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BarryKonrad (61) - NORWAY - DEC 26, 2012
Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Norway. Pours nearly pitch black, with a small beige head. Aroma is dominated by coffee, and some dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is very good, decent thickness on this one. Flavour is burnt coffee, perhaps with hints of vanilla, but very faint. The alcohol is completely hidden. Aftertaste is again of bitter coffee, but of the pleasant kind. The coffee is very dominant, and maybe it does hide any complexity that could be there, but I still enjoyed this.

Bottle@home. Black small head. Low carbonation. Roasted malty notes. Licorice aroma and taste. The hops aromas are difficult to find other than as bitter companion. Mainly dry with some sweetness. The alcohol well hidden. Tasty brew.

Dryish earthy roasty grainy coffee aftertaste with nougaty
alcoholic notes. Nice, interesting, and full of flavour. (0.33l
