COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It’s a beer that’s been thought about for quite some time – actually since the brewers first visit to Sherbrooke Liquor in Edmonton, AB, Canada a few years back, and finally I did it – I manned up and did it! After a whole freaking day of brewing coffee for this beer I can truly say it is Craft. If not devoted to the product who in their right mind would brew hundreds of litres of coffee for a beer? The result is a big and bold smooth Porter with discrete vanilla and coffee notes.
Hops: Magnum, Nelson Sauvin Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black, Vanilla and coffee.

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Valkendorfsgate. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and vanilla with notes of dark chocolate, dark fruits, hops and citrus. Sweet and roasty with nice coffee flavour and a well balanced bitterness. Full bodied and quite smooth with well integrated alcohol. Tasty, flavourful and surprisingly nice. I’m not a huge fan of vanilla in beer (except Southern Tier’s Creme Brulee Stout) but it’s well integrated and fits quite well with the other flavours. Nice!

Bottle. Black with a tan head. Aroma: Chocolate, pretty fruity, sweet, coffee not noticeable. Taste: Chocolate, coffee, licorice and roasty. The taste is way more bitter than the aroma. The palate is pretty smooth. I don’t get any notes of alcohol. It’s extremely drinkable for it’s strength. Great beer and pretty affordable. I imagine it would go well with desserts..

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet bestillingsutvalget (nettbutikk). Huge, bubbly fawn-coloured head with a solid stand, leaving artwork to the glassware. Body is just as dark as black coffee. Very good looking, indeed. Aroma of coffee, burnt sugar and vanilla chocolate. Coffee to the fore followed by the taste of dark vanilla, and a gentle touch of roasted, dark malts. Bitter coffee grounds to the finish. Velvety mouthfeel. Nice sipper on a Saturday eve (Tromsø, 20.04.2013).

The aroma is not particularly interesting, even a bit rough like mud. But the taste is interesting, clear presence of vanilla and a good ammount of acid. The texture is smooth and the enduring thin layer of foam is a plus
