COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crockett and Tubbs were to the drug world of Miami the same as the hops in this beer - a means to balance tings out. In the beers case the fresh citrussy hops balances the grains and gives you a sense of calm. A sense of what pale ales used to be under the sun, of good times and careless days. This is a tribute to the series that ran from 1984-1990 and what can we say about Miami Vice that hasn’t already been said, except that it is the greatest TV show ever made in the history of television.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Festival. This never made it past the point of ’decent’ with me. Although to be fair, i’ve had zombie dust just a couple of hours before.

0.33l Bottle at home. Nose: hoppy, slightly metallic (not sure if it’s from the beer or glass), some malt sweetness. Taste: bitter hops, piny, light body. Refreshing.

Fresh on tap. Aroma of pine needles, herbs, sweet orange, tropical fruits and discrete bready malt. Pours orange golden with a small white head. Taste is medium bitter and medium sweet. Medium body, oily mouthfeel, average carbonation and a bitter finish of pine and drying grapefruit. I enjoyed this.

Tropical fruit and citrus aroma. Light foamy head and good clarity. Well balanced and nice bitterness for a pale ale. Light mouthfeel and good drinkability.

Malty aroma, sour caramel with a very small hint of pine. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Very balanced taste, bitter and sweet, bitter finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Pretty long. I quite enjoy this.

Copenhagen 21/5 29016. 33 cl bottle from Irma. Slightly old bottle (best before 20/5). Fancy sports car on very pink label. Truly in the spirit of the TV-series from 1980s. Pours slightly hazy amber with white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is sweet with exotic fruit but with distinct bitter sour citric notes. Light carbonation and slightly thick palate. Taste is distinctly bitter with only subdued sweetness. A little fermented fruit and good bitterness in the aftertaste. Fine bitter brew even though I could imagine that Sonny and Rico would prefer a cocktail.

Pours slightly cloudy copper. Qrome is slightly hoppy, with a malt balance. Taste is hoppy, but not too much. American hops.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 18B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown (BBF 04.02.2016). AROMA: moderate hop notes with fruity character (tropical fruits) that disappear, remaining a slight sweet and caramelly malt aroma, with faint pine and resin notes. APEPARANCE: light amber color and clear. moderate ivory head with good retention. TASTE: like the aroma, moderate hop flavor with pine and resin notes. almost clean malty background with faint toffee-like character. medium-high bitterness that lingers beyond a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium-low carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: an APA that exceeded its best before date, so with more muted hop presence but still with a lot of its characteristics.
