COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Medium white head. Hazy deep golden body with light carbonation. Light wine grape and gooseberry aroma with tropical fruit notes. Dry strawy resiny taste with funky tropical fruit notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish mealy tropical fruit and resin aftertaste with grainy notes. Nice, drinkable, a bit mealy. (0.2l draft at Crow Bar, Oslo.)

Bottle at Bar & Cigar, march 1st 2013. A Single hop Nelson Sauvin pale ale, can’t let that pass! A clear golden body with almost no head got me thinking maybe I was wrong? Lookskind of boring doesn’t it? Well, one shouldn’t be fooled by the look, and in this case that’s absolutely true, a unmistakable peach and grapefruit aroma fromthe Nelson strikes me as soon as I lift the glass. Moving the glass carefully to the nose because I was distracted by something that DID look good I poured my glass way too full, the fruity characteristics are really strong, and finally there’s some malt, bread notes too. Not much, this beer seemsto be all about the hop, which I can’t blame anyone for. On to the taste, the hops are totally dominating here too, fruity with a slightly grassy stinch, some sweetness letting through, but the bitterness does it’s job very well and could easily be mistaken for an ipa, as I later read the label said too. No points for guessing the aftertaste. Yup, fruity, grapefruit mostly, lasting, and a very good first beer for the day.

Hazy gold - amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Smooth softish palate, quite dry. Creamy airy malt. The hops seem noble like. Trace of grass but mostly just bitterness. Finishes soft with a slight metallic note.

Bottle, 33 cl. Clear golden with a dense white head, quickly diminishing becoming a small fine layer. Very fresh fruity hoppy aroma of passionfruit, kiwi, lime, light vanilla. Quite enticing. Flavor is medium sweet light maltiness and lots of fruity hops, leading to a medium bitter finish. Very well balanced with a light body, but the oily hops make this is a perfect quencher and by far the best beer I’ve so far from Ugly Duck.

33cl bottle from Ølhandleriet, Oslo. Pours slightly hazy (dark) golden with a white head. Hoppy aroma with tropical fruits, malt, grapefruit and hints of pine and grass. Medium body slightly soft carbonation. Moderate sweet and quite fruity with a nice bitterness in the finish. Well balanced and quite delicious.
