English: The smoothness of this black fluid takes you by surprise. No, this is not an extreme beer! No, this is no hop explosion! This is smoothness! Deliciously tasty, subtle toastiness and a hint of hops – like a long petting of your taste buds. And at only 7,8 % alc. this is the beer you want to drink all night. For your grilled steak, your chocolately desserts and your creamy blue cheeses.
Hops: Cascade, Simcoe Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black.

Bottle with SlackerMads - BB. 17.7.2014. Pours black with a lasting and fine lacing huge tan frothy head. Aroma is roasted malt, butterscotch, labre larver, resin, chocolate, soy, hints of bubblegum and rye. Taste is moderate sweet- and light+ bitter. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is moderate. Apart from the butterscotch it is a fine brew. Finishes balanced. Hops are not really evident in the aroma. I’ll have to try another batch.

Bottle. Pitch black with a large creamy light brown head. Vegetables, grain, roasted malt, light bitter chocolate, butterscotch. spicy rye. Simcoe and cascade notes escape me. Roasted light/medium bitter finish. Medium body, oily/light creamy texture, soft/medium carbonation. Nice bitter finish and the general idea seems to be in place, but there are some flaws.

Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy with mild fine carbonation. The dark malt is quite light, no roast but there is a touch of bitterness. Lactose and a little rye spice. A little bitter licorice and toffee before the semi dry finish. Not bad.

Close to black with a large tan head. Semi-sweet on the nose, malty, some liquorice and bitter chocolate. Creamy and rich on the palate, taste is well balanced, although quite hoppy. Rich roasted grains and malty caramel. Body is full and carbonations is moderate.

(Bottle). Aroma and taste of slightly burnt roasted malt, dark chocolate and fresh hops. Unfortunately, ends the taste with a very burnt, dry and bitter tone in which the taste of alcohol is very noticeable. This is sad, for otherwise is the beer OK.

Bottle. Pitch black with a nice beige, tanned head. Definitely some spice character from the rye in the aroma. Lots of coffee too. I think I can taste the 7.8 % ABV actually. Strange. A little chocolate and in general a very roasted and dry smelling beer. The hops are thus still present - nice. First impression is a bitterness from the hops and the coffee. Then, a the dominant roast takes over with the rye. It’s not extremely complex, but pretty solid. I’d like some more sweeter notes from some chocolate for example. Mouhfeel is medium and dry. A solid, dry porter but it’s pretty one-dimensional.

Tap (Gallows Bird, Espoo)
looks great, so dark, and a tight dark tan head which looks a bit scummy later. Stodgy mashy roast aroma, sweet and a little coffee but plenty of heavy esters too. Lovely full roast in the mouth, touch of coffee, great spicy malts. Super smooth roasty palate. Finish has great hops too. Simple but very nice porter.
