COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English. Sorachi Ace was developed for the Japanese Sapporo Breweries in the late eighties. It has a very citrussy and lemony scent and taste. When used in large quantities it may resemble dill. Truly a unique hop that resembles nothing you’ve had before. Anyways, here you have a pale ale brewed on pale malts, a slight addition of caramel malts and oats for the smoothness. Massively hopped of course.
Hops: Sorachi Ace Malts: Pilsner, Caramel

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy, medium gold, with a white head. Hoppy, herbal aroma, malt, spruce, grass, eucalyptus, earth, caramel. Dry, light to medium body, high bitterness, balanced CO2. Hoppy, spicy taste, spruce, grapefruit peel, yeast, eucalyptus, grass, caramel. Body is a bit too thin for the amount of hops, otherwise quite nice. (2012-08-24)

Bottle. Pours cloudy light amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of flowers and hops with notes of caramel. Spicy and roasty onset, malty and hoppy body with touches of caramel. Bitter aftertaste. Interesting.

Bottle. It’s a hazy, golden beer topped by an off-white, finger-thick head. Bubble gum, some lemon, oxidation and malts in the aroma. Lightly meaty. The flavor has as the aroma quite a lot of Sorachi Ace bubble gum, with malts and some lemon. Rather thin on the palate, with a nice bitterness in the flavor. A very boring one, but not bad in any way. 121005

Huge foamy white head which stays pleasantly long. Aroma of citrus like hops. Very bitter hops. A bit too stinging for my taste, I prefer fuller taste. For this ABV beer it has very strong taste and hops. Fuller body would serve this beer well, just like any other beer at this alcohol %.

Slightly dill in the nose. Pale beige head. Slightly hazy golden color. Lemoney and dill in the taste. At the end hoppy bitterness. Too bitter for me.

Big offwhite head. Slightly hazy amber body with light carbonation. Light herbal linoleum aroma with citric notes. Dry resiny peppery taste with linoleum notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, chalky mouthfeel. Dryish mealy fruity citric aftertaste with herbal dusty notes. Bitter finish. Nice, but a bit bitter, and kind of austerely flavoured. (0.33l bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen.)

Bottle from K-citymarket Kamppi. Hazy amber colour, white head. Floral, citrucy and buttery aroma. Floral taste aswell with some strange notes of glue. Quite odd beer.

Bottle from Supermarket near Holiday Inn, Helsinki. A murky gold pour with a small white head. Fragrant nose of grassy hops and fruits. Distinct Sorachi driven flavour with more fruity notes which didn’t really click for me. Rather leaden bitterness. Ok, but pretty forgettable fayre.

Just ratings with out any other information. Nice pale ale, somehow you just expect more from beer when it is named after hops.

Bottle. Cloudy amber color, frothy off-white head. Appealing aroma of fresh hops (and now that I read the description, yes, dill!). Resiny hop flavor with some buttery hints and caramel malts in the background. Crisp finish with grapefruit. Medium-light body, medium carbonation. Interesting beer. I’d like to try this with shellfish.
