COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in small batches annually to commemorate Uinta’s anniversary, this soul-warming brew is now available year-round. (Uinta’s anniversary is observed and noted by the change of the roman numeral on the label.) Uinta’s award winning barley wine has a dark amber hue with a rich malty character. Serious amounts of hops are used to balance its hardy alcohol content of over 10% ABV. Originating in England in the nineteenth century, barley wines are brewed with the same traditional ingredients as beer: water, malted barley, hops and yeast. There are no grapes or fruit used in the brewing process. The name “barley wine” refers to its alcohol content being similar to that of most wines, ranging from 8.5% to 14% ABV. Unlike most beers, barley wines age remarkably well. If you have the will power, set an Anniversary Barley Wine aside for a year or more.

Poured from a regular bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a hazy, deep copper and light brown/dark amber color with an average-sized creamy/foamy tan head that had modest retention, but good cling and lacing. Its aroma was predominantly malty with notes of caramel, fig, sugar, candy, and lighter tones of grainy and earthy hops. The taste was powerfully sweet and fruity with notes of caramel, raisin, and a slight touch of grainy bitterness at the finish. It had a creamy, rich body with a good, filling, somewhat-watery mouthfeel and was fairly wet in character with average carbonation and life.

Yum! A really tasty barley. Great toffee aroma and taste with the right amount of sweetness and body. Thick and good...

Shared 2012 vintage from a 12oz bottle into a nonic glass. It poured a clear, dark reddish amber colour with moderate beige foam and lace. Very malty and very hoppy, with waves of caramel, toffee, bread, nuts, plums, raisins, coffee, milk chocolate, citrus, pine resin, red wine tartness. Medium body, low carbonation, lingering complex bittersweet and fruity aftertastes. Recommended.

2012 vintage. Malty. Hot. Thick foam. strong. Kinda hoppy. Decently drinkable for a barleywine.

Strong sweet aroma with chocolate malts and fruity hops. Brown, almost maroon body with a light off-white head. Taste is bitter and medium sweet with hints of chocolate. Medium carbonation and some alcohol warming. My first barley wine, I like it!

Poured a deep clear brown/amber with foamy tan head, good amount of lacing. Medium to full body, smooth malt, strong barley presents.

bottle, typical in your face barley wine. Pours brown/red color. Aroma of sweetness and some hints of hops. Full body, thick dark fruits and sweetness. Well balanced with a malty backbone. Surprisingly, there was little to no alcohol on the taste. Defintely well balanced. This is a classic barley wine, usually not my style. This one is not bad.

Aroma of malt, caramel, and alcohol. A warming brew with toasty bread and caramel flavor, subtle piney hops, moderate bitterness, and alcohol. Excellent.

Aroma: Fruity (citrus, raisin, berry) and spicy hops; light caramel malt, sweet, subtle toast. Can smell a little alcohol.
Sweet malty flavor, with bread and caramel malt in the background. Balanced with firm bitterness, and candy-ish fruity (citrus, plum, and almost strawberry-like?), tongue-numbingly spicy hop flavor. Warming--but little to no alcohol flavor.
"Best before 11/8/13"

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with plum highlights and a small foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet candied dark fruits (cherry, raisin & plum) with a bit of toffee underneath. The flavor was tart, bitter and tangy with almost a sour presence and notes of molasses and raisin. Medium length bitter and tangy molasses and raisin finish with a boozy presence that comes out more with each sip. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.
