First brewed in small batches annually to commemorate Uinta’s anniversary, this soul-warming brew is now available year-round. (Uinta’s anniversary is observed and noted by the change of the roman numeral on the label.) Uinta’s award winning barley wine has a dark amber hue with a rich malty character. Serious amounts of hops are used to balance its hardy alcohol content of over 10% ABV. Originating in England in the nineteenth century, barley wines are brewed with the same traditional ingredients as beer: water, malted barley, hops and yeast. There are no grapes or fruit used in the brewing process. The name “barley wine” refers to its alcohol content being similar to that of most wines, ranging from 8.5% to 14% ABV. Unlike most beers, barley wines age remarkably well. If you have the will power, set an Anniversary Barley Wine aside for a year or more.

12oz bottle----->tulip. Pours an amber brown with a tiny tan head. Aroma is sweet sticky figs and caramel. Taste is syrupy dark fruit, toffee, and sweet malt. Palate is kind of thick and noncarbonated. A fairly typical barleywine.

Deep reddish brown. Nose full of toasty malts, caramel, dark fruit, raisin, grapefruit hops and mild pine. Flavor is more of the same with toasted malt, raisin, caramel, and bitter grapefruit. No booze to be found. This was outstanding, very surprised by the other ratings.

Not the best Barleywine I've had. Tasted a little yeasty. (Was old though.) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Anniversary XV. 2008 vintage 12 oz. bottle from the Brick Store Pub. Dark brown, with a medium, beige head. The aroma is burnt caramel, toffee, brown sugar, pine, and some rotting leaves. Sweet and roasty flavor, with some light bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, and a little astringent. This is an interesting barley wine. Dank hops and very roasted. Not that bad, just strange.

Nice color, and head, especially for the abv. Reddish and cloudy but that is okay by me. Off white head. Some retention. Fruity nose, subdued, a bit of caramel. Nice mouthfeel, initially syrupy, and carbonated, then very swiftly some hoppy character kicks in and it is quite a nice treat, not one of the sickeningly sweet barley’s.

12oz bottle from the Malt Shoppe in Tosa. Cellar aged 4 months and served at cellar temperature. Pours a reddish brown with a beige-orange head leaving some streaky lace. Aroma has dark fruits, sweet fruits, caramel, pine. Fruity and tangy, in an "American Strong" way. Taste is of sweet caramel, sweet dark fruits, light nut, and heavy pine. Quite hoppy, very tangy fruity. Medium to full bodied and surprisingly low alcohol presence for the abv. Finishes sweetly fruity and tangy, and long. Nice, hoppy brew. Not too barleywine-ish, more like a caramelly American Strong to me. Good stuff! 14.2

Aroma is sweet caramel malt, bready, light roast with nice citrus hopping. Appearance is dark brown with a bit of orange, small head. Taste is malt forward, caramel and dark malt, strong hop bitterness present as well but way malt forward. Palate is medium full with some alcohol heat. Overall not bad but lacking some of the complexities would want in the style. A little one dimensional, not sure I would want to age this one like you would want to with many other young barleywines.

Bottle shared at a tasting at our place. BBOTMC. Murky red-brown. Rich dark fruit aroma with prune, a little sugary. Full body, quite carbonated, long, dry and bitter finish.

Some caramel, a hint of citrus and a fair amount of booze. Pours brown with OK head. Light sweet finish with some boozy bitterness. Some light florals and citrus. Average carbonation. Bottle.

At a tasting, thanks, small stable light brown bubbly head, very cloudy dark red to light brown color, aroma of dried fruits with some citrus, flavor of dried fruits, quite strong but pleasant sweetness medium bodied and suprisingly light. Pleasant.

This is a strong beer full of malty grain flavors. Its a bit to bitter and hoppy for me.
